Re: Rip
Condolences to Mr. Wilson's family, I met Mr. Wilson last year while pitting next to him at Darlington at a Division II IRHA race. Mr. Wilson was one of the nicest guys I have met while racing he will be missed. My prayers are with his family Jim Kelley

Re: Rip
Always enjoyed J.G. when racing in D-2. Had some laughs with him and Jimmy Spell at Charlotte this fall. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. RIP.

Re: Rip
Very sad news....D2 has really lost some great people this year. Condolences to his family.
I think I will remember most This past fall race at Charlotte.. I was helping with Roy Hill's 3 car team. Both Roy & his crew chief/driver were pulled for the "random testing". Crew chief got it over and done with...Roy was gone for what seemed like for hours. I run the golf cart over on the other side to check on Uncle Roy. The door of the testing RV flings open & I hear Roy yell "we need some help in here...we can't piss" I peek my head in the door and Roy & Mr. Wilson are sitting side by side on the couches....same posture...same physique...same look on their faces.. Anyone know that Flock of Seagulls song? Yeah I ran, I ran so far away!!! |
Re: Rip
Jimmy Spell called me today and broke the news and asked me to post something on his behalf; very sad to hear this. I remember the first time I met JG, it was at an IHRA points meet back in 2001 I think at Kinston. Real nice guy who had a great running car. I remember the year won the Gators and I think a couple other divisional races as well. JG was an old school racer, Jimmy said his wife (JG's) sad he was reminiscing last night of this past race season and how he was looking forward to the 2014 season. Let's remember the good times about JG and lift his family up in prayer. Godspeed friend!

Re: Rip
This is quite a shock. James was always a very tough competitor but a nice person to talk to. I remember racing him years ago when he ran his white big block camaro in IHRA. We were supposed to race first round at the Charlotte spring race this year and neither of us could make the first round call. I'm glad he had the opportunity to enjoy his division 2 championship before his passing. RIP my friend.

Re: Rip
I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Wilson, but it is obvious he was well liked and highly regarded. I am sorry I never had the pleasure. RIP Mr. Wilson.
