G rated Kumho tires on 16" rims. It's the only way to fly.

I'm looking at a trailer right now, and even though it has brand new Goodyear tires, it and my truck will both get Kumho tires. I despise flat tires and torn up fenders.

I feel that regardless of the tires you select, you should put a hand on them to check temperature, and inspect the tread surface for bulging at every stop on the highway. I have done OK so long as I check them, the tires aren't over 4 years old, they aren't overloaded, and have ten psi more than needed for the load while still being not inflated beyond spec.

If you were buying a new trailer would you go to the effort to supply your own tires/wheels in the load range and size you wanted? Or would you take what they offer, even is their best is more money, and use them up...before putting on what you want?

If you are ordering a new trailer the manufacturer should be able to put what you want on it. If they won't it makes me wonder how customer oriented they are and might change my mind on who to buy a trailer.

Re: Tires for your enclosed trailer ?

If you ask for 16" the trailer will sit higher, the wheel wells inside may be taller, and they may use higher gvw axles. If the standard setup is 10k gvw, they might increase trailer gvw which makes you commercial in some states. If the loaded trailer won't exceed 8k, you may be fine with a 10k setup. If you bring the contents of your garage, etc. and want over 10k GVW, you may want to look up the DOT regs. for each state you visit.
