Re: Race Fuel Question
The LT1 compression is on the high side of what they recommend for C11. Tuning for it showed me a little. This past year I had 5 gal left over from 2012. Took a sample to be tested at the first 2013 race. It passed just fine. I went ahead and used it. Fresh fuel ran exactly the same. As with the Sunoco, it likes it's own tuneup. I can make mine run a tad quicker on C11 than C12 or Sunoco. I really like the zero fuel check issues. C11 costs a little more, but what is cheap about this anyway?

But, if their are more issues with Sunoco than i'll stick with VP. And your right, theres nothing cheap about racing, (only the pay-outs ) |

Re: Race Fuel Question
I get Sunoco race fuel from a gas station that pumps it from the ground, it's about $8.50 a gallon, I've had it sit in a container for over a year and loose it's color, it still passed NHRA fuel check. I was told to put some fresher fuel in the car just to get the color back. Never had a problem passing with Sunoco. I went to the PRI show a couple of years back and asked the Sunoco representitive how long the shelf life for the fuel is, he told me that it was just about 2 years.

Re: Race Fuel Question
I've used Sunoco Purple for decades, in my bracket car and in IHRA since 1999. It's been consistent and good, even what was in the tank through the off season. The only time I failed IHRA fuel check was in Norwalk when I couldn't get any in time from my usual source and bought some from a local speed shop. The "flunkie" behind the counter sold me something that was purple, which was either "cut" or a completely different brand. I got some locally in Norwalk. I plan to use Sunoco Purple when I get around to NHRA Stock as well.
Year ago I tried the "Blue" for a short time, couldn't find any advantage in my particular application, and went back to Purple. |

Re: Race Fuel Question
Pete,
This chart shows 112 for the blue and 110 for the purple. They are listed at the very bottom. http://www.racegas.com/fuel/compare |
Re: Race Fuel Question
I have run Sunoco blue in the past with good results performance wise. I now run c-12 just because I don't want the problems with fuel check. Here in Div 2 the fuel check guy always gave me a hassle on the color of the fuel when I was using Sunoco. I got tired of that crap. I have had no issues with the C-12 passing fuel check. I have not seen any major differences in performance on the track with C-12, C-11 or Blue. Seems like NHRA wants you to use the VP products.

Re: Race Fuel Question
We've run both VP and Sunoco purple in both of our cars with 305's. Sunoco ran the fastest. Could've been a coincidence but still???
