Re: Don't forget your Florida permit !!!
So what is the beginning limit for trucks and trailer in FL?
Thanks |
Re: Don't forget your Florida permit !!!
Are you racers getting O/L permits driving Truck Type RV transporters that MUST go into the weigh stations? I don't think a Motorhome RV with a trailer that does NOT have to enter weigh stations would have any issues with the DOT! The CDL LICENSE, MEDICAL CARD, & LOG BOOK rules are another thing the DOT loves to hassle the Truck Type Rigs about! What do you guys think?

Re: Don't forget your Florida permit !!!
The permit very plainly states that all permited loads must enter all open weigh stations, then you just follow the arrows. I have never had them look at the permit, but there is always the first time, they usually green light me down the front.

Re: Don't forget your Florida permit !!!
I have the Request for Special Road Use Oversize/Overweight Permit Application in front of me and there is NOT a selection for Motorhome towing a trailer? The closest would be Mobile Home which is for just that and Manf. Homes(half houses) in transit!
I am going to contact FL DOT for clarification but as I see the application they have no category for Motorhomes. This permit application is for commercial vehicles. ALSO: Your trip permit is only valid for 5 days unless you are purchasing a blanket permit which sounds like it would be VERY expensive! Not sure about the costs? Anyone's input on the permit they purchased, type vehicle they have, what selection they used on the application, trip or blanket, & the costs might b helpful to other racers! MOVEMAN |

Re: Don't forget your Florida permit !!!
Moveman- the permit you want is a blanket permit for a truck pulling a trailer. The cost is $20.00 per year. I have been getting them for 5 or 6 years. It is no big deal, unless you don't have it and an informed Fla Dot officer decides to stop you. The fine is rumored to be $1000.00 per foot over 65 feet.
