Lot's of stuff can come out for Stock.

Both can be replaced with much better parts.

....Worst thing I've had to deal with is the electric throttle (seems to open/close when it wants to) and the granny controls on the engine management system...
This could be fixed with an aftermarket controller. I'm not sure how the direct injection would be dealt with, but I bet it can be figured out.

....Another problem is the interior is very confined, so putting a cage in would require someone smaller than my 6 foot 3, 232 pound frame...helmet sticks out above the windshield now....
It would be tight. Only requires a roll bar. Keep in mind that you would have to run with the top up.

....No doubt, under stock class rules, they could be made to run well, especially putting in a different trans/converter....
I bet that both combinations would do well.

....Big heavy wheels all around, stock are 18x8. I believe smallest front wheel would be a 16 inch due to brake size.....
You would want to install aftermarket brakes.

It wouldn't be cheap to build a Solstice, but I think it would be a cool car to race. I would love to have a four cylinder wheelstander!

If I thought for a minute I could comfortable get in one of those cars I'd build one.

Maybe someone should peek in Chuck Blossom's garage. It doesn't take him long to get bored.

Andrew the turbo charged version is actually a 2.0l but I have seen a cobalt ss (fwd) with a tune cold air intake and exhaust go 12.80s 113mph leaving at idle.

SS/FS 11.88 111.34 05/29/12 James Caughlin

Naturally aspirated 2.3, runs good and goes rounds.

I believe Caughlin went 11.24 at Mission last year. Runs very well!

Yes, he was asking about Stock Eliminator.
If you add Super Stock, there are and have been many 4 cyl cars that have gone quicker than 11's.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The reason I was asking is because it's a little Stock Eliminator research project of mine. ;)
