And also possibly Ken Vaughn. You may find Ken at Indie Images, that's the photographer for Beech Bend in Bowling Green. That car was damaged there in a finish line crash 2-3 years ago. Fred still has it as far as I know, not sure what the current status is.

It's a beautiful gold car. It's one of those cars I've wanted to drive in the worst way.

The 283 will likely suffer some from valve shrouding, given the valve size and the bore size.

Yes, you can put a 12 bolt Chevy rear in it.

I'm not sure I'd want to try to run one of the high HP 283 engines with an automatic, even a 3 speed. Those are going to need to run relatively high RPM and in a narrow power band.

No fuel injection engine was available in 1961 with an automatic. The 245hp engine is the highest rated engine available with an automatic and it is a 2 x 4bbl engine.

Re: 1961 corvette stocker info

The 245 hp is probably okay. Not a very big inch motor for almost 250 hp, but it's got a lot of things going for it.
Many years ago, we bailed on that same car /combo when the new 350 was at 255, but a different story now.

Mark,
If you where to run a Chevy 55-62 combination in stock eliminator, what would it be?

Re: 1961 corvette stocker info

Think a standard would be fun , don't know how consistent, but would be fun
Hoping might get away with a built 10 bolt to be a little lighter
Thanks for all the input
