Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
What Dave said plus NHRA needs to fix this. 85 points X 3 for performer awards awards OK but not for national points.

Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
How can we compete against them (points) when we don't even race against them in the eliminator!?!? Everyone that actually tries for points should be up in arms about this. We all spend a ton of money and expect things to be as even as possible so we all have a fair shot at the championship or top ten.

Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
Don't look now but Mr. Barton just took a huge leap in points today. A few more good divisionals and he could be your 2016 Stock Champ. Totally ridiculous move by NHRA. I keep waiting for the "April Fools".

Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
Stock Eliminator should remain as it has been. Shoot Out is an evolving eliminator and is nowhere near it's final format. What the final format will be, nobody knows. It has changed every year since the first Shoot Out. Presently only blown cars can play. Each year it is different; blown, unblown, spot set, spot calculated, mixed with Stock, not mixed with Stock, so points for Stock earned in eliminator only is my vote. However Shoot Out should have it's own rewards which presently is a moving target, but some reward for the Shoot Out. I think most of the rewards now are from the Manufacturer and not much from NHRA. Like I said, evolving. We will continue to sit it out and watch for now.

Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
I wish I could get 85 points for winning 3 rounds. This is joke and a slap in the face to the other racers that actually run in STOCK ELIMINATOR. The rest of us must run 5-6 round races to gain the same amount of points.
Who's bright Idea at NHRA was this? Nothing against Barton his domination in the first three races really shows how hard he has worked at it. But they should have there own separate points championship just for FX. |
Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
Looks like David Barton will be in the top 10 in stock after his third round loss in NH. He will pickup 64 points for his third round loss just like Clay Arnett did in Norwalk.

At a divisional you get 30 points for a round 1 loss 10 per a round win David should only get 50 for his weekend efforts. |
Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
Do the FS/XX cars get points awarded by two different set of rules? At Norwalk Dave won the third round and got 85 points for the race. The winner of the race got 105 pts. and the race runner up, that lost in the sixth round, got 84 pts. The race runner up won two more rounds and got one point less than Barton. How dose that happen, and how is that fair to the rest of us that race stock?

Re: Factory Stock Showdown Earning National Event Points?
I've remained quiet on this thread because I am obviously partial to one of the FS participants in question, BUT if its so easy to get 85 points for 3 rounds, please tell that to the rest of the Factory Stock participants including the non-qualifiers that get put back into stock eliminator.
I can tell you the effort put forth by the Bartons before the Gatornationals alone, is more work than most stock or SS racers do all year long. Probably more like 2 to 3 seasons if your counting and that was just the beginning. Just because it looks like an "easy 85 points" doesn't mean it is! There are no "soft combos or dime rockets" in FS/XX!! The other thing some may be overlooking is that maybe NHRA threw this points deal together to try and entice some racers into joining the mix and having this class take off. I dont think NHRA or the factories wouldve ever thought there would be one dominant team, but for those looking for the first stocker in the 7's, I'd say the Barton car is odds on favorite and without a carrot dangling in David, Rays and Garys face, this team may've never even come to be. Team Barton/Wolkwitz certainly has brought some very good attention to F/S and stock eliminator and the points there getting is a reward for all there hard work. The cream always rises to the top.... Now this is solely my opinion but for all the Barton haters here, don't hate the player. Hate the complainers!! (just kidding) Seriously a big thanks to NHRA and the big 3 manufacturers and SAM for making this deal happen. I am a Super Stock racer at heart, but when the factory showdown class is running, I'm on the line or watching on all access! It is a great thing and maybe next year they will have a few more races and a world champ in factory stock, but as long as it continues I'm happy. And another big thanks goes out to all the Factory Stock racers that are participating in this. Kudos Brothers!! (then maybe a Factory SuperStock/XX class!! ;) ) |
