Re: Trailer ramps

many trailer floors are made from aluminum and the pieces are 12" wide. I think they are extruded and often you can buy them . My Gold Rush trailer is this way. My guess is they are 2" deep , the sides flange back in and in the center is a T. kinda like the letter E sideways

Assuming that you are building alum ramps to minimize weight, the 6061 option is going to be the best weight to strength ratio. 3003 does bend easily but has the strength of a wet noodle. 5052H32 might be a better compromise but I would opt for the 6061 alloy.

Jim-JR : At 66" long that would be bending with the grain might possibly open up? On 6061 best to bend against the grain.

Or just find a set from an Auto-transport like this guy did. It may be easier and stronger than building your own. Just a thought .

Re: Trailer ramps

Guys, thanks for all the help. The fellow who was building the ramps
for me got hurt in a motorcycle accident and wasn't able to
complete the ramps, so I purchased a set from PitPal. I installed
them, they work good, look good, and lessened the aggravation factor.
Thanks again, J.R.
