Re: Redman petition

Bill Redman Floyd was probably the best friend of the racers that NHRA had on their staff anywhere.

That said, I get the impression that the people above the division tech level at NHRA do not know, understand, or give a damn that racers are family, and that guys like Redman, Travis Miller, Dave Ley, and others are a part of our family.

Sportsman drag racing is, for the most part, a family sport. What they will eventually discover is that when they continue to screw over the family that is sportsman drag racing, their little world will cease to exist, because they certainly do not have the slightest idea how to attract new people to drag racing. The only thing bringing in new people is the family, that brings their youth to the sport.

Just another straw on the camel's back. NHRA doesn't care, because the camel's back never breaks.

I would take Redman over anyone in the Ivory Tower in a heartbeat.

Re: Redman petition

Actions talk stronger then words, have all sportsman racers go in to staging, lock their vehicles and then walk away. See what the NHRA staff does then? I went to Suffolk to set the record with my Camaro, after making the back up run, NHRA said that they weren't allowing record setting. So,as my turn I put my car on the scale at Suffolk race way and then locked it, went to the tower and discussed it with officials about no record setting. We set records.

Billy he just takes up for us because he knows who pays the bills for those people in the ivory tower that don't give a flying flip about us peons that they are better than us Gary

Gary,
For whatever it is worth, if you do a search, there are a couple of websites that host online petitions, they'll allow you to set up a petition and give you a link you can post and distribute via email. I have no idea how you get the results to NHRA, or who at NHRA you would get them to.

Alan, you know very well the NHRA is all about the family, specifically the JFR and DSR families but a few others to 'spice' up things...apparently you build a huge youth following by letting them smell nitro in the pits, selling them T shirts, etc. There must be a connection to the instant gratification mentality that runs rampant today and of course we know that's not an identifiable demographic amongst the sportsman ranks. Don't have a clue as to the NHRA hierarchy but there must be some family connections regarding hires within the IT department, marketing, etc. so based on all that I'd have to say they are very family oriented.

From all appearances Redman and his ilk are too closely associated with "our" family rather than the NHRA family, hence his persona non grata status.

Redman is as good as they get, won't be the same at races without him.

Re: Redman petition

From my understanding this all started with Redman last year and now this year it is not any better. I talked to him at Las Vegas last fall and that was his story. He was the best at the parking plan than anyone I know and I am old.
I also understand Harold who usually runs the front of the staging lanes is on a 4 race suspension.
NHRA just does not understand any of the Sportsman racers and does not care to understand any of us.
My 2 Cents
