Re: acres for a strip?

It is a quarter mile track, but just for reference the track in Tulsa is currently 210 acres. It is pretty full for a divisional race.

also, the Noble OK track is 196 acres and is basically packed to the fences for a Lucas race.

Yet, a local 1/8th-mile bracket and other events track could most likely do fine with 50 - 60 acres. It would require carefully planning and careful layout.

Thanks for the answers about area size. so I was close with a 80 x 40 acre parcel.
about Lake Havasu & the drag strip there. first the city was all for it, they knew $$$$ would come in because of the draw. the city set aside land at the air port. the city quashed the noise complaint from an RV park at the end of the air port. the group of racers, pushing the strip thought the city would continue to do all the legal stuff. turns out No. the planning & zoning wanted an enginered blue print with a commercial stamp, which was going to cost $400,000.00. [when you kid asks what can I do to earn a lot of $$$--]. also nhra got involved a wanted all kinds of fancy stuff-big tower, cushy suites, extend the race surface from 1/8 mile to a full on 1000 feet for fuel cars. $$$ value keep going up. and meanwhile the guys in charge got over ran by beer drinking wanabees. it may not be totally dead, but might as well be.
