That seems to make the most sense! The NHRA announced on September 30th that the SAM Tech Series was being expanded to seven races next season and would be a 16 car field at each event. They also mentioned that the "SAM Tech NHRA Factory Stock Showdown will be contested as its own eliminator". (emphasis added) It wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that there will be an increased amount of media coverage for the FSS Eliminator, given what a success the program has been and how keen the Big Three have been to support it!
