NY National speedway was 4 wide back in the seventies. It was strange even then.

Amen to that

Honestly I can barely watch one car at a time. But watching and actually racing 3 other cars at the same time might be two different feelings. I live here in Vegas and the cheap seats were sold out for today. My girls were going to check it out but a little expensive to feel the earth shake.

They started the 4 wide there in the mid 60s I ran there all of 1966 and all of a sudden one weekend they started the 4wide and I hated it and if I remember correctly it had no border wall between any of the 4 lanes and back then nothing handled that well on lousy tires. I ran A/S the really fast cars were still 2 wide. They had like today lots of stock eliminator cars and needed to move them along. I will see if it brings back memory's next week at the points meet in Vegas.

I ran in 3&4 the only time I've been out there. I swear the walls are taller and no way you can even see 1&2 from the 4th lane. They ran jr dragsters in 1&2 which in turn sped things up for the big cars.

Remember seeing pics from York US 30 in early 70's, looked pretty wild.

And the track was only really wide enough to run two cars safely anyway.

US 30 ran Pro Stocks 4 wide a few times. They called it "Jungle Races". It had to be downright scary for the drivers.

The only reason they have 4 wide now is because Bruton decreed it. I remember when Vegas was originally revamped he wanted 4 wide then.

Dan. I was there for the measurement in the morning on all 4 lanes . It was dead on! Jeff Foster and Team did a hell of a job!! I was very impressed.
