That is correct, it's an actual Camaro with a vin number that could be purchased off the car lot as is Marion Stephenson's. They are not COPO's.

Actually the VIN is irrevelant.
Yes, it was an original COPO, but technically not one now.
Al told me he had to change a few things back to what they were on the showroom cars.
I forgot what they were though. Maybe Al will fill us in.

BTW, Congrats, James

I'm thinking of doing it the old fashion way but in the 21 century. I purchased a 2009 Dodge challenger 5.7 with 81,000 miles, cold air and a nice sound system in the car. Car would have to weigh 3920 lbs. in J/SA. It's 300 lbs heavy in street trim. The engine seems easy to work on. The rear end looks like a bad hair day. The NHRA safety requirements kill any thought of just having fun with a street car. So do I take a perfect car and gut it? Decisions decisions!.
Welcome to the 21 century for sure. Not like buying a 1970 Hemi Challenger in 1970-72. Race it and either drive it or toe-bar it home.

Been waiting all year for my 440 engine for my 69 GTS Dart. The above is what happens when I sit around waiting.

You can have fun with that car ! NHRA allows a Hellcat to run 10's without a roll bar . What other safety items do you think you need ?

J/SA requires a roll bar, Seatbelts that only last 2 years, driveshaft loop, long studs, fuel check, harmonic balancer, SFI approved flexplate, leaded fuel and a few other things. It can run E.T racing if that's your pleasure.

Yes I believe I was misinformed, I do believe the one Marion Stephenson is running does have a VIN # thought he told me he bought it as a flood damage car. And thank you!

Unaltered 2008 OEM model year and newer production cars running slower than 9.99 and 135 mph do not have to meet the requirements and specifications for NHRA except for the following: Convertibles and T-tops must meet NHRA Roll Bar and Roll Cage requirements, All drivers must meet the NHRA Helmet and Protective Clothing requirements.

Even is Stock Eliminator? Great news if correct. Wanted to see my daughter run stock with me at races but she likes newer cars. Go figure!

Thanks,

Not likely! Stock Eliminator cars are heavily modified from factory configuration...

Been racing stock for 45 years. No kidding. The truth is the 2009 dodge Challenger with very little could run index. Go figure! But not many crazy folks out there will buy a 20,000.00 car to strip it out, spend a few pennies to run I/SA. So I guess your only choice is to pucrhase a Drag Pak or a COPO Camaro if you want new. Pretty much what happen to stock eliminator. Went to modified in the last 45 years. Soon the 50 year old cars won't have a fan but a granddad like me. When stock eliminator was born it had new cars racing.
