I've always wondered how many open trailers with cars having advertising plastered all over them have been stopped! I've always heard about enclosed trailers.

Read my post prior to yours. In South Dakota, we got the decal thing straightened out at the Capitol. As long as the current administration is in, everything will be fine. But if the political party in power changes, we may have to go back and straighten it out all over again. Political appointees (head of the DOT) -- GEEEZZZ!

Before I go off the deep end, I will try to get in touch with the DOT official who told us about the exemption and its application. I think Florida is losing something between the higher ups who really like tourist and people to spend money in Florida and the people on the road. One thing that is certain is if you pull with a truck, you need to have enough tag to cover your truck (usually about 6-7klbs) and your trailer (most singles are 10 to 12, triple is usually 18 or more. Keep the total under 26k to avoid CDL. Also if you have a trailer built, often you can get the GVWR tag to read lower than the sum of the axles, as the frame also affects the GVWR. Anyway let me see if I can get in touch with this person for guidance in this matter, and then attack Florida. The guy who got busted with the dirt track guys is picking up a truck from me tomorrow, and bringing all the documents from Florida for the violation. One thing I have found about some of these questionable stops, the Tourism department in any state don't like them. More later.
