Jim, we know what good 327-275's make so what we're looking at is....

-the difference between a good AFB and a good QJet
-what (if any) difference there is in the cam (.399/.399 on the 300 & .390/.410 on the 275)
-what (if any) difference there is in a good AFB intake compared to a good Qjet intake

The 327/300 @ 265 isn't horrible. But the 327/250 is the same engine (except for the 4G) and intake and it's @ 245. I don't see the AFB covering the 20 hp difference, even with the intake being a bit better on the AFB.....given the current state of Stocker intake technology.

But .60-.70 under should be no problem for a decent 327/300, though. -Al

Al, it's 260 in a Chevelle with iron heads ..That's 60 pounds lighter in !/SA..Something anyway.

So we know a 294 CUIN 283 4 jet can make 380 STP HP. 1.292 HP per inch.

Now looking at the 300 HP 327 combination @ 340 CUIN. Bigger bore, more compression, 1.940 intake valve, more cross section in the intake port.
It makes sense to me this engine should be able to make 1.292 HP per inch if not more. 1.292 X 340 = 439.2 HP. NHRA 365 HP 327 makes 470 HP.

Wow ! Wonder how much the 283 would make with the correct intake manifold and not the BOGUS one ?? I need one of these FRIENDLY Dynos so I can feel better about my lil 305..... CHEERS. .....!!!!!!

10 - 15 years ago = 1.5 x factored HP in Stock
AND.....................= 2.0 x factored HP in SS

NOW DAYS: Better figure at least 10 or 15 % Higher.
To be competitive is getting tougher AND more expensive
every darn year!

If all you want is 6 or 7 under in full race mode = 375 would probably do it with that combo

If the two fast I/SA last week at Winters had meet in later rounds = It would have
taken at the very least 1.15 to 1.20 to be even be competitive. (I know the cars and
my boy owns one of them)

Yes...not sure what body style Jim is referencing, though. The valve notches are the struggle, for sure. :) -Al

I have had a rough day, but seeing this post just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.......Let’s just say I know as much about Dynos as you know about LEGAL Buick Stocker oil pans...RING A BELL ?????.......For those in the dark, HP HUNTER is the genius that attempted to fix his Stocker oiling issues with a customized ,floor extended oil pan.. Better stick with what you know........bull****ting racers that don’t know any better with all your flow figures and assorted calculations......YOUR MOVE BUD........

Just curious...
How do Aluminum and Iron Headed Lt-1 Engines fare in Stock?
What power levels are they getting out of them?

The Stock world champion’s car is an LT-1 powered ‘98 Firebird.

She can drive and the car is fast but the LT-1’s have been hit many times with HP putting them at a disadvantage to some other traditional older cars and some new combos.

The LT-1 benefitted from a low HP factor for years and could dominate classes. There not slow by any means but the HP factor today makes it tough.

That’s for aluminum headed combos. I know nothing about the iron headed versions.
I raced one for a couple seasons.

I see your not comfortable with the math associated with engine design and racing. Like I said stick to what you know.
