Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
That's the way I read it Angelo..for 4.5 inches, to 3.

Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
How can we complicate a maximum of 3" of travel?

Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
Mike there is no "WE" u are not involved in this. Last time I checked those were Ihra #'s. Unless u can't spell, see or comprehend Ihra is not spelt nhra. Please stay out of our rules!!!! People see your opinions and run with u not knowing what race your in!!!!!!!!!!

Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
Thats what I thought Robert..... I don't think I've seen anyone using the entire 4-1/2 inches..... with a little experimentation I think the 3 inches should work. At least you don't have to throw the thing away and start all over w/ a new button.
And Michael.... the rule gives a length dimension "base of (button) switch to top of plunger" it does not specifically state a length of travel. There is a difference.... for example.. the Harrington button has a pretty long (at least an inch or inch and a half) threaded portion for mounting. The plunger does not go past this portion of the button........ yet according to the current rule as written..... that threaded portion "might" be considered part of the length dimension from the "base of the (button) switch to the top of the plunger". Like a lot of rules.... it might require some clarifiction.... that is all I was referring to. |
Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
I sure don't have a vote then, Keith.
I wouldn't want to impact the transbrake deal on your stocker :) Lighten up man, this isn't congress it's a racer's forum and it is going to be a really long winter. Beard could be building a SSer right? Or driving one for someone? It isn't like he is one of the dirty dozen? Oh yeah, they can race NHRA anyway.... Besides, you got Christmas early. Didn't Witherspoon get some HP? You should be ready for the showdown with him next year! BTW, I think it is cool that you are ready to go get him with the 305 and I also think it is cool that Bruce is going to be ready! Makes for a good race! |
New transbrake button and two step activation policy
NHRA has announced a new policy for transbrake button requirements in the Super Stock and Competition Eliminator categories. This direction reflects the input of racers gathered from an internet poll.
For 2008, transbrake buttons ?must be NHRA accepted. Devices must be mechanical spring actuated, and not exceed three (3) inches in length from base of (button) switch to top of plunger. Adjustability is permitted, and may be made by a threaded stop or stop rings. Modifying the delay in the switch by the addition of hydraulics, pneumatics, electric, or other means is prohibited. Contact the NHRA Technical Department for a list of accepted transbrake buttons.? In addition, for the Stock Eliminator category, two-step activation must be by foot operation of brake pedal, clutch pedal, or pressure switch. Hand release prohibited. These changes will be issued as Rules Revisions to the soon-to-be-published, 2008 Rulebook. |
Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
Angelo - I was just picking on all of us in general, because no matter how a rule is written, S/SS racers are great at creative interpretations! :D Didn't mean to offend anyone.
Keith - If someone agrees with my opinion on any given topic, it is probably because they feel that it makes sense. If they don't think it makes sense, then they won't. My opinions have no bearing on what sanctioning body that the people that agree or disagree with me participate in. In this instance, I was making a joke. Lighten up. I've driven four different Super Stockers, as either a hired gun or as a partner/owner, all of which are NHRA legal (And yes, we still have one). I've used Biondo's Five-Oh button as well as the Harrington switch. And people wonder where the "NHRA country club racer" impression comes from... thankfully, I've found that 'those' type are actually few and far between. Most class racers are thoughtful, friendly... and above all, family. |
Re: New Transbrake button rule is up!
Michael - no offense taken at all..... just like the rule.... I felt the need to clarify my statement, nothing more... good luck to all in '08 (especially me!)
