Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
The Strange Calipers that I have on my car have 2 bleed ports one on each side of the roter you have to bleed each side or your brakes will feel soft. I also use 3/16 lines and only use 3 rubber hoses 2 in the front and 1 going to the rear housing.I don't know if this will help your problem but it helped the problem we had on our other car.

Right now the rear brakes are connected to the rear port on the MC....[/QUOTE] Reverse the lines so the front brakes are connected to the rear or primary port on the master. A proportioning valve can be added if needed. |
Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
I did not see your reply to this comment, "it is necessary to bleed both upper caliper bleeders"
Did you do so? |
Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
Yup, both sides everytime

Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
You put the MC in a loop and plugged the ports and the pedal is firm so there is no air in the MC. You plug one port and hook up one end of the brake system and the pedal is good. But when you hook up both ends the pedal is low. Is that correct?
If all that is correct, I would try plugging the lines at all 4 calipers and see how the pedal feels. If it's good then I would say the MC is a little small and not moving enough fluid to make up for the amount displaced when the pistons retract. Larger MC or residual valves should help. |
Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
I used Strange Discs front and Drum rear. 1.032 Strange MC. A restricting adjustable valve to the rears.
Experienced similar issues. Installed a 2 PSI check valve in the front line. Both my Brake PS and line lock are below the MS. Problem was eliminated. |
Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
This is a good thread. I'm having trouble with a soft pedal after converting to disc brakes on the front. Now I have a couple of fresh ideas to try. The number of threads online about this issue is crazy but you'd think it would be so simple to fix.

Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
Eman, yes you are correct on what I have done. Checking with the lines plugged sounds like a good step. If it's determined I need more volume in the MC, how is that spec listed ? I have an adjustable push rod on the MC, maybe if I can get a longer throw that might help. Check valves also seem like it's worth a try.
The thing that bugs me is after a few pumps of the pedal, all is good. Also my calipers are more or less vertical front and back. Anyone have a good example of these check valves ? where do they go, MC ports ? any issue with using them front and back. I appreciate all the suggestions. |
Re: need help diagnosing brake issue
Have you checked your pedal ratio?
