Open or closed I have heard opinions both ways.
But you def need O2 for logging and tuning

Mike the engine will run fine without a O2 in open loop, however you are shooting in the dark on your A/F ratio.
Question. Have you tried making a pass with the O2 in it, or is this a new setup and you are just trying it while running the engine. If the O2 is way back in the collector and you are not at full throttle you will not get a reading.
I took a gray box out of my car because the O2 stopped reading and the logger failed. It may be more beneficial to purchase a used Fast 2.0. They are very good and usually on the market at a reasonable price.

Jim I'm in the same boat. The logger quit and I can't get a reading out of the O2 sensor. I have not made a pass to see if the O2 reads, I've just been playing in the shop with it. I was considering buying the FAST A/F unit because it has a built in data recorder so instead of pin the tail on the donkey it'll be more like darts.

Mike like I said if the O2 is way back in the collector you wont see a reading unless under extreme load. Try putting up on the converter 3,000-3300. You may see it read then.

Taking your advice Jim and buying an XFI. I don't see that I have an alternative.

I got my new XFI and I don't see a connector for the MSD distributer. Anybody know the solution to this problem?

So I downloaded the software from FAST on my laptop and was able to view the schematics and instructions and it's clear as mud which connector goes on which injector. Thanks FAST. Maybe it doesn't matter which injector you plug the wire into.

Check Schematics under 31.3 Fuel Injector Harness yours should be under 301200 part number standard sbc

Also MSD distrubutor should be black /violet to Fast crank connector red wire and black/orange to Fast crank connector black wire.

Crank trigger application would be green wire on crank trigger to red wire on fast and violet on crank trigger to black wire on fast

Mike, did you buy the main harness from FAST as well as injector harness IPU harness. I don't know what TPS connector you have, but most of the ones I have done needs an adapter to the round style. The IAC, if used may have a flat 4 weather pak verses a square type.
Hope this helps

Thanks Ernie, it came with the adapter for the TPS but not the one for the Msd dist. I had to make an adapter for the dist.
