Also, if your big rig is registered out of state and you ignore all their correspondence and never bring it back out here, just what are they going to be able to do about it? Good question that deserves an answer.

I once got a court summons in Wisconsin for speeding (they are very strict). Before I left the state, I tried meeting with the DA. He would not see me. I paid the ticket by mail along with a letter stating why I couldn't travel from NC to Wisconsin over a speeding ticket. The result was a letter from the NC DMV telling me that if I got one moving violation within 12 months, they would revoke my license....

Discretion of the state? An oxymoron if there ever was one.

I was trying to reply to Chris 1529 question: "What is the GVW of most 3500 trucks? 10-12K? or are they going by what you have it licensed for?"

What I meant is that even if the vehicle meets the weight limits, there is still the probability that cops could still stop you and do the smog check.

CALIFORNIA
AIR RESOURCES BOARD
Following action by VIA and its partners, the
California Air Resources Board (CARB) amended its
regulatory proposal on the heavy-duty inspection
and maintenance program.
The amendment will exempt diesel motorhomes
registered in states other than California, as long as
they are operating for non-commercial uses
The new requirements were being developed last
month, mandated by 2019's Senate Bill 210, which
would require diesel motorhome owners
nationwide to obtain an annual CARB certificate to
operate their vehicles on California roads.
This is a huge victory for diesel motorhome
owners in the other 49 states who wish to visit
California in their motorhome," RVIA Director of
Government Affairs Mike Ochs said.

I'm sure the trucking company's will be so happy to "save" all those pennies on fuel cost by spending thousands on CARB required repairs. Ultimately anything being shipped to California will always cost the consumer more to make up for it.

How about a proposed Constitutional Amendment--
"When any portion of a government of the People,by the People and for the People begins to disregard those same People, then by those People that portion shall be abolished".
