Re: Radial tires
We have 9” and 10” wheels and can’t tell the difference with the tire. We run the harder compound. Of the stick racer we know including our truck the radials are quicker. The challenge is the first 60’

Re: Radial tires

Re: Radial tires
The current compound for the Goodyear tire is the D1B.

Re: Radial tires
We went to goodyear radials after watching Jimmy hildago jr run his stocker. I noticed he didn't seem to do much of a burnout but always hooked up.Talked to Goodyear people and they told me not to do a burnout, just spin a little to make sure tires are cleaned off. Started out with .190 worth of rubber, At 105 passes they have .115 rubber. Never spun. Finally took them off at latter part of year and put a new set that I had bought a year ago.Old tires still had over .100 left. Cost more but a lot cheaper overall, especially to some one who runs our tires until cord shows.

Re: Radial tires
I've been running radials forever, and I haven't used the line lock for a burnout in over 20 years. As light as possible. Low to high and lift.

Re: Radial tires
We do the abrasion process in second gear to keep wheel speed down and to keep tire from “Crowning”

Re: Radial tires
Here in the Hoven racing camp there's a set of 92.5" Goodyear's floating around with what we figured to be over 200 runs on them. They went about 150 on Todd's firebird, then another 50 or so on another car with no issues. They still have some tread left on them. Ultimately they just sort of stopped making smoke in the burnout so they got taken off the car. I can't speak for the Hoosiers, but we tested the Goodyear's against a set of M/T stocker radials back to back, and the Goodyear came up about .03 - .04 faster.
