Re: New Q Jet

My first concern, one of many, is the legality of these carburetors for NHRA Stock and Super Stock use. The engine blueprint specification sheets only list Rochester and the Edelbrock replacements, which by the way gets a +.015 primary venturi size upgrade over the Rochester. Until NHRA makes an official call on these, I wouldn't recommend any one purchase one with the intent of putting it on a Class car. If they were to be deemed legal, I would be glad to perform an in-depth autopsy on one and post my findings here.

Re: New Q Jet

I have seen and used or tried to use numerous carbs offered for sale at much lower prices than the OEM items

Mostly on Onan and other generators.

Some work ok but more often than not they do not work right and or they deteriorate badly once gas is run in them for a while

They look perfect in every way usually

Money saved ends up being thrown away sometimes and nothing but aggravation.....been there numerous times...

My guess would be poor quality material, and or a lack of anodizing or other treatment is why they rot with gasoline, and especially if they're exposed to the corrosive effects of gasoline with ethanol in it, that stuff rots everything it touches, regardless of quality.

I'm with Danny, I think the first thing to do would be to get one and send it to Wesley Roberson to see if he thinks that NHRA would even consider allowing it, I'm guessing with how little marking and documentation is on them, they won't (that's pretty much confirmed). It wouldn't hurt to expose one to some race fuel, they may dissolve, considering what I've seen of the chinese Amazon stuff.

Just FYI, folks, after talking to a couple of people, I would waste neither time nor money on the chinese carburetors, it's a dead end.

Very poor quality aluminum.....Ethanol in the fuel spells trouble.....

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
