Re: Anti-Roll Bar

Thanks for the Advice

Have SS Rear and Front Springs, they are stiff.

When I bought the car new in 1995.
Took the car to Summit Point for Road Course practice.
Stayed with just about everything in the curves.
Straightaways were ok! Used up set up Front Disks.

The SS Roll Bar is 1.06 inch Diameter.
Trick Chassis makes a complete Anti Roll Bar set up, 1.56 dia.
Requires welding but says it can be bolted in.

Spohn makes a replacement SS Roll Bar from 4140 Chrome Moly.
36mm/1.496 inch diameter, 1/2 inch larger in diameter.

I’ve used the H R Parts rear bar for over 15 years. On a 1970 Chevelle. Fully bolt in and easily adjustable. I don’t know the rear cross member in front where the trailing arms bolt up but the A body unit may fit. Someone must have tried this by now. Give them a call 3309472433. I know a few more companies offer them. TRZ and maybe BMR among others. Chris

The B-body suspension is identical to your 1970 Chevelle.
Same GM Chassis since 1964.

Our B-Bodys are the last of the full frame Muscle Cars of the late 60's early 70's.

64 Chevelles had an 8.5 rear ,with metric bolts?
'Fraid not !
77 and newer down sized full size were similar, being metric , but not all of the parts interchange with the SS.
Might look like a 64 Chevelle , to the uninformed.

Re: Anti-Roll Bar

I feel ya on this! We have a right rear airbag and tried a anti-roll but it didn't really like it. It leveled the car out but 60 ft was slower. I felt like it was binding something up and it could have been how we had it in there. Ours is happier when its twisting a little. I have double adjustable shocks. I need to start playing around with them a little more.

I bought a thicker Roll Bar from BMR...
Stock was longer and 1 inch diameter.
Good enough for Friday at the Track for road racing and autocross.

At VMP Div1 this weekend installed the 1.5 inch BMR.
It was a good bit heavier and stiffer.
Typically weigh 3940/3950, with new bar heavier 3990/3980lbs.

Car felt more responsive and twisted less.
Need to get some pictures.
