[QUOTE=SSDA Hemi;706204]I knew where they were on the island, didn't realize they did custom headers or that they moved. I drove by their place but never went in. Medford?

They were on Grand Blvd. in Deer Park.

Do the NASCAR teams build their own headers?

What makes ACP, Kromer Kraft and Precision Welding headers special.

Does anyone use Kooks Headers?

KromerKraft located in Youngstown, OH can do mild steel with ceramic coating, stainless steel or titanium,....but mild steel + ceramic coating is typically recommended.

Each have their own formulas for tube diameter, length to each step, Step change in diameter, collector size. Overall design of header 4 into 1 or Tri-Y. These factors will determine how hard they suck exhaust out the port, control reversion pulses not allow them to make it back to the valve stalling flow. Controlling signal getting back to the carb effecting fueling. Build quality placing bends and their radius.

Not saying a custom set will "always" outperform a set of box headers.
Depends on the combination.
A box header can be optimal.
Improvement can be minimal.

Improvement can also be impressive.

There are old threads on Speed Talk with comments by Calvin Elston and others which if your interested in understanding theory behind header design are very informative. Search "Exhausted".

I usually scrub my headers with a brush and a bucket of soapy water then rinse with a hose. Use a long tapered brush meant for cleaning under refrigerator or heating unit. It looks like and anteater. Lot's of junk will be in the bucket.

Fog your engine good when done for the weekend and plug collectors with rags. Replace your good race plugs with a set you only use for fogging and warm up after sitting a few weeks.
