Re: IHRA going back to class racing
It?s great to have another dog in the fight. The NHRA has slowly been telling us how important we are in their business model. Quotas and more non class?s at Nationals. Limited tech and limited payouts and very few races that contest class. Some of you need to realize that you?re stuck in an abusive relationship. And the more abuse you accept the rougher it will get.
I?m fortunate to be able to race with the best association in the country and class racing will remain strong here. We also have a growing number of IHRA tracks. With the loss of NMCA we should realize that every track and event could use our support. If we as a Class racers supported our fellow racers, tracks, and events the opportunities would grow for us. |

Re: IHRA going back to class racing
Just for clarification, there will be no pro-ams next year, just the three nitro jams with all the original classes (TD, TS, STK, SS, HR, SR, QR, JRS) and pro categories. The idea is to show potential marketing partners, track partners, and racers what IHRA class racing and national events would look like to get further support for a full class racing schedule in 2026. And to hand out the first of the original Iron Men.
I think it's great and will attend any race or nitro jam that's within 10 hours. I haven't seen any specifics, but I really hope they return to all the original IHRA class indexes for 1/8th mile. No more of this 6.30 and 6.90 bull****. I want Super Rod to run 6.40 and Hot Rod to on a 7.00 index the God intended. |
Re: IHRA going back to class racing
IHRA was great back in the day...I think they could be headed the right direction....I wasn't sure how they would get it going or if they would be able to . I was there when they made the announcement at PRI,ended up I was standing close to guy Darrell that owns the company sponsoring IHRA, was a regular guy, I would have never guessed and didn't... as I stood a few feet from him, he would be introduced as their multi million $$ sponsor.
I'm racing stock and super stock where I can have the most fun, the least time off work and if lucky enough to win.... win the most money |
Re: IHRA going back to class racing
I am hopefully optimistic.. its a huge undertaking.. alot of planning.. nothing i would rather see happen than to get back to the way things used to be..
