Re: Comp cams

Last time we freshen up my engine we ordered 2 cams from comp. 1 cast core cam & 1billet core cam . The billet one was on back order do to lack of cores 3 months. I guess they wait untill they get enough orders to make a run of cores .

A lot of problems with break in was nobody was not realizing the oil companies were removing the zinc & phosphorus ingredients from the oil as nobody was reading the backside of the bottle to not notice the part # had stayed the same but product was different .. I know engine shops that burnt up everybody's brand of cam not knowing the problem was the oil all along

Look up the Lake Speed Jr. videos. A lot of people do not realize that it is not just zinc and phosphorous. The other additive packages changed, but more importantly, so did the detergents. It's quite often the detergent package that is hurting your cam. And you CANNOT just throw more zinc, phosphorous, or moly in that oil to "fix" it.
