Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
Lynn-
The favorable rating only looks good, because enough guys are running the combo's that are fast and developing new pieces and ways to keep them fast. It has been this way since NHRA's inception. Quit trying to change the rules with the forums and change your program. Something, only you, is in charge of. You don't see any 350/295 racers on here complaining about getting stiffed for 17 hp in the last four AHFS reviews because of GT/AA, do you? Everyone knows the rules, and if you don't want to play by the rules, you get to add weight. Some things need to be tweaked with the AHFS. But having something that has removed "some" of the human element in factoring is better than the "I think that guy is an A__HOLE, so he gets power approach" don't you? Take the wanted tweaks to the Div. committee. Gotta start somewhere. |

Sean,
Already entered if you didnt notice. We might not be in the hunt (new combo for us in GTAA), but we are at least trying. I support this GTAA class 100%. I am confused. Are you talking about opposing the AHFS current methods? I choose to make everyone aware of this unscientific approach and a better way, and get everyone equal access to after market parts. |

Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
Years ago....Jim Boudreau told me he wanted to build a CORVETTE for GT/AA. At that time NHRA told him that they were NOT allowing corvettes in the GT classes. I assume the rule has changed (ex- the bohannons have run their small block corvette in GT classes recently).
I'm sure a most vettes would make a mean GT car. Tom Sheehan |

Looks like a good number of those SS/BM cars entered...it should be interesting to see just how fast they really are too. There's a lot of guys going to modified cars, who should be the fastest in BM, any guesses?

I don't want to hear about corrected runs, in my opinion thats crap. Put the number on the board. I am sure the day I saw Andy run that 9.07 had it been a perfect pass he would have ran in the 8's. Since sea level corrections were mentioned; I don't understand why the NHRA adjusts the indexes for altitude tracks, allow them to set mind blowing records, and then they don't get hp? I know this horse has been beat but I don't understand why combos aren't hit. I mean there were a couple of cars this weekend that went 1.40+ under and nothing will happen to those combos yet if someone would do this at a sea level track it's instant hp. What's the difference, the indexes are adjusted to make things the same so all other rules should apply. This is something I think should change but I know it never will. Does anyone know why altitude tracks are exempt but can claim hero runs for records? |

Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
Any way you want to look at it, 9.19 run at well over 3000 feet corrected is a hell-uv-a-run! If anyone wants to try and knock off Andy Fogle, they are gonna have their work cut out for them. ;) Damn is this gonna be cool!
The moderately slow air conditions (2500 feet in the AM to around 3500 feet in the PM) allow the fast cars to hang it out making it way cooler. "We don't need no stinking corrections" |

Indy Super Stock is a full 180 car field as of 7/16/08.

Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
Great 15 car field for GTAA. I also cut and pasted the possible "cross overs" with a little weight out. If not GTBA looks way too cool also. I guess too maybe a SS/EA - SS/FA car?

Class War At Indy
I was bored tonight and started running some numbers, i did everybody's numbers that has entered into indy in SS, and the classes posted they entered, grant you some will change classes when they get there. but by my numbers you better have -0.870 in your pocket or better. Just my thoughts on this. Look me up at Indy and I'll know even better as I'm going to keep this sheet i made updated until then. Right now 128 in my info is -0.807 BUT!!!!!
side note there is 36 drivers entered that has no runs recorded this year for the class they are entered into, so............. Good Luck to everybody! |
Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
About 10 years ago, before Mopar became involved with the hemi cars, the guys of SS/AA (now SS/AH) put together their own pot for class winner. Maybe the guys of GT/AA should do the same? Winner take all. I bet no one will be getting on the brakes!! Good luck to all. This will be a good class to watch this year.

Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
How do we pull up the entrants lynn?

Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
Dick, if you're a member, and set up to enter events, you can pull up the entry statistics. I don't think you can if you're not a member and not set up to enter events.

Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
How about this one. Why dont you guys all put up 1500 or 2000 per car and the fastest car on the Qualifying sheet gets the cash. This would make it interesting. What do you think??????????
|
Re: GT/AA Class War At Indy
Guys, I'll be there so if you need someone to "Hold" the cash, I'll do it, lol.
Hey also, if you want to do a ladder, just yell at me, we can do one and not be in NHRA's way one bit. |
