Hmmm....Where should I start...

Long story short (or as short as possible, as I don't want to put poor Mr. Asta & Mr. Haas to sleep, as I'm sure they have more things they'd like to accomplish before day's end), I'm waiting on my engine builder. Originally, I was supposed to have the motor back at the end of April or beginning of May. He wasn't ready with it then, and neither was I, so being the nice guy that I am I told him that a few more weeks wouldn't be any big deal. Well, that was probably the wrong thing to say, but live and learn.

In the end though, it's no big deal. The delay will just give me more time to get other things done on the car that haven't been done in a long time (I'm in the process of re-wiring the car at the moment, and I'm going to take it to the chassis shop for a few minor updates as well).

Even then, when I am done NED "Racer" (I don't know your name so how would I actually know if you're a racer), you may not see me at many LODRS events. They're just too expensive to go to, the payout sucks, and because I primarily run S/St the grade points that I get from going to them don't do me much good (with my grade point of 2 from last year, I could have gone to Chicago if I had wanted, but I would have needed at least a 4 to get into Englishtown, and in the foreseeable future I'm not going to Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Denver, or Seattle).

So, why WOULD I go to a LODRS event? To race with my buddies, or to get me another mini-Wally, and that's about it. Otherwise, I'm going to be spending my hard earned money primarily at IHRA national events, which are probably more convenient for me to get to (living in WNY sucks from a racing perspective), and have better payouts as well (though admittedly their trophy isn't as pretty).

And to reply to anyone's request in advance, no I will NOT call my motor guy out on the Internet. Unlike some people on here, I value my personal relationships, and I use my real name when I post my opinion on the Internet.

OK, so that wasn't exactly short, but I had to get digs in there about Mr. NED "Racer" not using his real name...Oh, and one more thing Mr. NED "Racer", didn't anyone ever tell you that opinions are like assholes? And I are one...

Well aparently you must have 2 assholes and never ****!
Many people at the racetrack know who I am i guess you dont because you dont race anymore.

Rock, no offense was taken by your comment. My response was a jab at myself, not a sarcastic remark towards you. I know I'm a long poster...I just can't help myself. Do they have a 12-step program for this type of problem???

As for you NED "Racer", maybe people at the track do know who you are, just as I might know who you are. Though, I doubt people at the track know you as NED "Racer", and I doubt on your tech card it says NED "Racer". And until you start signing your real name to your posts, you will have 0 credibility with me, and with many other people on this message board.

This message board is for us to talk with each other about various topics, and there are going to be difference in opinion. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm not going to get upset at you because your opinion differs from mine. Not that I think that you couldn't sleep at night if I was upset with you, so I don't quite understand why you have this unwillingness to post your real name along with your posts, even though people at the track supposedly know who you are. Every post I have EVER made on here, whether it was popular opinion or not, and whether I think people at the track know me or not, has had my real name affixed to the bottom of my post.

I'm MAN enough to post my real name, are you?

Sounds like a challenge as i see it Mr. NED Racer, this is def good reading

Rich67stang 06-19-2007 02:34 PM

Does anyone remember what the original topic was? LOL
Gary, How is everything?

sg1838 06-19-2007 02:54 PM

Colorful - Us small block guys need to stick together. Did I tell you about the new ultra-small small block that I'm building? I've always wanted to go through the traps under power at 10,000 rpm, and now I'll be able to. [:-grin-:]

Gary - Glad I could be entertaining.

Rich - I think it was about something called the "staging lanes" and how the procedure used in Division 1 isn't very random. But, quite frankly, I don't remember what staging lanes are or where Division 1 is since I don't race anymore...

I hate these people who do not post their names. The new site will eliminate them, however Jason maybe some things have changed at the tracks since you have been there, so how can you comment on everything!

Just my 2 cents

(probably not worth all that much)

Chris,

I can comment...that doesn't mean I'm correct, but I can comment! And I think you'll find that I'm a pretty straight-shooter. If I don't know how something works, I will tell you that I don't know how something works. And, in some cases where I do not feel I am qualified to post my opinion, I won't (for instance, you will rarely see me post my opinion on subjects over on the S/SS side that specifically pertain to those classes, because quite frankly I just don't know enough about them to be able to make an educated post.)

But, in this particular case, somebody suggested that D1 should use the same procedure that is in place in D3 for pulling first round opponents, and it was made perfectly clear in these posts that the current method of "random pairing" for the 1st round hadn't changed since the last time I was at a D1 LODRS event. Thus, I felt it was perfectly reasonable for me to post my opinion.

You COULD even argue that I am more qualified than some on this particular subject, as over the last few years I have almost always hit at least one D3 LODRS event. This is not to say that D1 racers are strangers to D3 events, but we're definitely in the minority when we are there.

And I'm NOT trying to insinuate you are one of these people...

I do think that the D3 has a great thing going. Good luck getting Higher Ups to listen,

Well at least you are honest!

Anyway I did happen to see some of that "Certain Transmission Builder and his wife playing "GAMES" in the staging lanes at Atco this past weekend!

We should really put a stop to this and I have proof that those scoundrels were really up to some fishing.

Deal.

That said, I just took a step backwards today in getting out, as I committed this morning to having the entire cage replaced in my car. So, now it's looking like at least August 1st before I'll be out (we're shooting to have the car at the chassis shop by 7/6, then it will be there a couple of weeks, and I'll have a couple of weeks worth of work left to put it all back together.)

The good news is that unless my motor builder cancels in the next 2 hours (which he's done before), I should be on the dyno tomorrow morning at 9am. If I would have known it was going to take so long for the motor to be done, I would have had the chassis work done months ago. Oh well, too late now...

Anyway, if everything goes smoothly at the chassis shop (and I have added extra time into the schedule without telling them), I should be able to make Epping, and from there I'll be at Milan, Toronto, the Columbus Sportsnationals, and the Dutch Classic.

So, I look forward to meeting you, and enjoying a frosty beverage with you, at one of those races.

And BTW, I was also NOT insinuating that you were one of these people that hasn't raced any D3 races. I wasn't insinuating that anybody IN PARTICULAR on here hasn't participated in some D3 races. But, I'm sure there are plenty of racers that compete exclusively in D1, which I can understand. If I lived on the Atlantic coast, I'm not sure I'd be traveling to D3 either (but I don't, so I do).

Wow...Sounds like ANOTHER challenge! Two challenges in one thread!

I wasn't successful in getting NED Racer to post his real name. But, maybe Mr. Furr will have more luck getting Mr. Haas to run Mr. Horton...

Maybe we can set up a grudge match at a local track during a test-n-tune!

We are leaving for Stanton tomorrow....we will both be running super gas and comp.....chances are we will meet at some point....I hope in the final.....
In division 3, if you get in the same lane, chances are that you won't run that car in round 1. After that anything can happen on the ladder....

it would be even better if that red 68 camaro was in the other lane....the one that always seems to have a 1 on it.....

Furr 06-21-2007 01:34 PM

I try to stay out of your way Rock. People are lining up to get beside the red camaro when I come over to NHRA to race. Damn duck hunters.

Fuzz - See you at Bristol Rock!

CBS 06-21-2007 01:46 PM

Unfortunately we probably won't be in Bristol.........seems to me you have your way with the Division 2 guys.....

Good luck Steve....
