Our small block stuff is all 904 case/shafts. Our big block stuff for class is 727 case with 727 input/ shafts/converter and 904 internals (pricey). Bracket big block stuff is 904 with adaptor(not class legal) with 904 convertor and shafts. Confusing enough? ps Raining like crazy at my place 20mi. as crows fly from track!

A 1.40 60' ?....I'd blame the tuner. His chassis builder is top notch in my book.

8 grand? Quit it!, quit it!, quit it!!!!!.....Trust me. Espeically if your engine was put together anywheres close to our's and you trust your supplied DP engine without a complete tear down and blue print re-assembly, your engine may not make it to Pomona.

I'm sure I'll get flamed, probably BIG time, but I'm not at all impressed with Stanton Racing or Diamond piston's at this point. I'd like to know what Stanton got paid to slap together our DP engine. Maybe they kept the cost down by hiring Wyotech grad's? j/k, however I would of rather had our engine shipped to us in parts.

Why would you get flamed in either case? -

1. Why would Chyzler give someone the DP engine project that has proven nothing in drag racing? Going in circles in the dirt is not a horsepower contest. That's one of the reasons why I happen to like drag racing, because there is a m.p.h. reading on the scoreboard, it doesn't lie, and you can't hide from it, you have power or you don't.

2. And regarding Diamond pistons, anyone with piston measuring equipment (99% of the engine builders don't have the proper equipment, very $$$$$), knows they can't cut a flat ring groove, hence why the pro stock guys using their stuff cut their own ring grooves.

Hey, Expect nothing less than 9 grand. He is just thinking of it as a large version of those "rice burner" Motor cycles he raced. ;~) HA! Old habits are hard to leave benind, AYE!

I share your feelings!!!! I did learn this week that mine #43 has been at least fired.. Carbon on the ext ports when we took it out of the car. But we are going thru it with a fine tooth comb.... We may screw it up but it will be ours and not his for sure!!!!! I would be afraid to spin it that tight without some MAJOR improvements.. JMO......

Re: pro stock showdown from Vegas live (and sportsmen testing too)

I lost #3 last night at 3 in the AM at 6700 , everything spot on, just fine tuning the fuel curve and checking.

Lost drivers head and maybe block.

Going through now, still shooting, Ive got a bottom end at home Im going to have counter to counterd air if thats all it took out bottom wise,

Cheers back to work.....

(we also have a plan y and plan z for the motor but....well those are longshots)

Ive got a good block in the SRT8 and Crank.....may pull it....Ill have to send dad back home within the Hour to grab it 24 hrs round trip.....and so forth, leave Mon night, straight through to Pomona....

Still doable.

Cheers

Chris

Ahh, a big disappointment for sure....this sport sure sometimes has a way of slowing down your plans and all your hard work.....others losing these things at sub-7000 rpms? WJ

Re: pro stock showdown from Vegas live (and sportsmen testing too)

Just a pisser on the drive, we did learn some great things about these engines and well, its just a temporary setback, we still plan on being at Pomona....

We have a PLAN actually3 to have a running motor dialed in by 12 midnight on Monday, were going to tag team driving and hop the car out by Thur AM , may miss first pass with it but we should be good.

The whole plan (our main plan of the 3) is dependent on an assumption someone has something we need. Well see......

Lots of Phone work right now chasing people off the couch on a Sat from Mopar.....and 2 others we know have what we need.

Gives me tommorow to put it back together and Mon early to finish the fuel curve.

1 other lost his 7th or so pass....yes.....We had already run it to 8k with no issues, all was good, even oil pressure was over 80 when it went, water temp nice steady 182 , even the sensors and egt was all good and bam. Instant failure.

Ive got most apart and we see exactly what happened and why, in the end its my fault because I truseted someone elses work, my fault.

Well be there (even with no motor, Ive also got a contingency on 360 and others things in the works....)

Cheers

Chris

Re: pro stock showdown from Vegas live (and sportsmen testing too)

LOTS ! lol....

I want to deal with this the "proper" way though and not piss on anyones parade, so I will deal with it Monday from the road, I dont want the pics out there flying around blah this motor, blah...I havent had the pan off yet so Ill get a better idea then. And until I know EXACTLY what happened and why....well best not leave to internet speculation of pics.

BUT until its settled with "the powers that be" I think its best and good business to keep them from floating around the net.

Cheers

Chris

(If youre gonna be at Pomona, so is the Motor in my trailer....)

We came up with a DP motor ready to go from someone I told my father hes gonna like a lot, hes a great guy, my father said "I like him already :D" and asked "Can I adopt him ?"

Were BACK on Track, just took scaring up a 6.1 Drag Pak Motor in 2 hours....not bad at all.....(Our other plans would have worked too but I dont think they left enough travel time.) This one was a last minute thougth.

Mack Reeves is "That Kinda Guy" I told him it takes a special kind of guy to ask of him "Hey can I have your first born toddler to carry my ammo sack into combat, hes about the right size :)

Pomona is BECAUSE of HIM now.....no other reason.

This is making out to be a great story! The one you will tell for years and years.

I have a couple of them also. "I get by with a little help from my friends" rings a bell.

Best of luck to you! I will be following along on the net rooting for you!

As a mostly keyboard, someitme Super Stock racer up here in Division 6, I can relate to the "get it done" attitude that will get you to the track racing. Big props to you for putting the hours it takes to get out racing.

Good Luck!

Jeff

There's a bunch of stand-up people on this site who are ready to go to bat for someone who has worked as hard as you....now get thrashing so we can all see that thing roll into the lanes at Pomona.... Best wishes. WJ

Hmm...dono about that one, someone else same era does. But Im sworn to secrecy so its secret.

Ill have my ex wife ask Vanke when she sees him again....may be 10 years but family reunions come around once in a while :D

He used to build my dads engines, right down on Copley road....I remeber going there as a kid to his shop.....

And Oties in Akron......

I shoulda stolen the Oties sign from the parking lot after they closed in the late 80's (early 90's maybe) it sat there for years.

Off topic, but Judy Lilly was the first person in history to put a gen III in the 12's. BTW, It was in my truck.
