Re: Kurt Busch

I agree with Dan Fletcher's eloquently written observation, Kurt Busch will bring some much needed new blood to our sport. People who follow Sprint Cup Racing are 85% more inclined to use or support whatever brand their favorite Driver is sponsored, by the same frame of thought they might think ' hey Kurt likes Drag Racing maybe I should give it a try also" don't sweat the small stuff. Same thing for Jeg's, bring in as many Pro's running in the sportsman class, it can only help.

I tried to check how many were entered for Gainsville, but was going to have to sit through the hazmat video forst. I don't run SG, but was wondering if it's full? Is his entry going to keep anybody out? If not, what does it matter? Could be worth some ink.

I just went and looked at the stats.
3-4-10 6:07 PM CST
Super Gas Quota 90 Registered 76 84.4% Full
Super Comp is Full
You can look at the stats without logging in and watching the video.
Click on Competition on the main page. Then click National Event Registration.
When you get to the log in point at the lower left corner it says Event Entry Statistics and when you click on that it takes you to the National Event list and when you select the event it will show you the stats without logging in.
Hope that helps.
Rick

I just went to the Sprint Cup schedule and he is busy with practice and qualifying on Friday, Saturday, and race on Sunday so a grade point this weekend is not an option unless someone goes in his place.
My 2 Cents

Owners don't get a point anymore, unless I got hosed in 2008.Couldn't attend Englishtown because of my daughters wedding. My driver got the grade point, not me.
I'm sure if somone else took the car to the lanes for tech and Busch signed the tech card
he would get the grade point.Better that than just giving him a pass and making NHRA
look foolish, after all they wouldn't want to have that happen to their reputation.Wink,wink.

Do you think NASCAR would reciprocate and let Ashley Force-Hood enter a NASCAR event?

Cyclone, absolutely they would. See how quick they jumped on the value of Danica.

Bobby, you're spending too much time here on this site. It's going to rot you brain cells and you're out look on life hanging around with us S/SS guys.
Now get back to work.
I wonder if those wacky East ern European ice bike race organizations would invite
Jeggie or Morgan Lucas to enter a race.Do I hear Jegs ballistic spike jacket sale next
year?

Why have rules at all.

Rules are Rules....period, if it's okay to break them, then why have them in the first place

I also happen to like Kurt Bush and hope he has a blast with his new car....;)

Dan, I'm sorry to have to disagree with you BUT, rules ARE rules. The majority of the troubles in our sport AND in our world today seem to stem from the fact that too many people feel that the rules are just a guideline to be manipulated as needed or they just don't apply to them.
Personally, I don't believe that Kurt Bush is going to be anything more that a picture and one line in the Dragster anyway. He certainly isn't going to help Sportsmen Racing!

You'll all be thrilled to know on the NASCAR radio show in Chitown last night they mentioned how Kurt Busch was going to run his 1970 Dodge Challenger in an NHRA race next week. Didn't say what kinda race nor how to get tickets. Nor mention he was running with a group called "Sportsman Racers." Can maybe those of you in attendance jump up and down behind them during the interview so we can see you...

I did get a chuckle out a friends older sister who went to her class reunion this year and told me "did you know Tom Buschs' kids race?"

Think I'll offer Dale Jr. a couple of laps in my Cutlass if he will let me take some in his car.

Does anyone know the requirements to race in a cup race? Other than qualifying, tech, and having a boat load of money. Do you have to have raced in a lower classification first? Just wondering.

Plenty of seat time in other Nascar divisons, or other forms of racing, such as Indy car or GP, a reputation, connections w/Nascar, including a race career review by Nascar, also a car owner that is willing to put you in his equipment. That would be for starters, and I'm sure there's more qualifications as well before you could jump behind the wheel and run in a Sprint Cup event....Maybe someone else can add more....WJ

Used to be you had to be from below the Mason/Dixon Line and be able to know how to pack the trunk with 'shine.Hell the first NASCAR champion was a convicted moonshiner.

I did 10 laps around California Speedway through the "Racing Experience", kind-of like one of the drag racing schools. The cars were ex cup cars with crate motors. They sure take their time getting up to speed with the gearing they have. I ran about 165 and it didn't feel like I was going that fast although it felt faster the closer I got to the wall. It was fun but because the track is so long and you have time to look around it doesn't give you the same rush as all of the things going on in a 9 sec. pass.

As a NASCAR racer going back to drag racing, I can tell you that the only thing you need now to run one of those cars is money. Thats about it.

I have been racing in the regional touring divisions and have won a track championship and all the owners want these days is money or you bring the sponsor.

Its actually pretty sad.

So Iam going back to drag racing and having fun.
