Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
Ken, I belive most were doing that to keep the average down due to the fact they
had already triggered a instant review, Its a BS game but if you want to try to save the combo unlike some Due for a race without a trigger later in the year were you can both race balls out, Then more power to em Step on it, Not that i agree that it needs to be done but rules are rules lol.. |

Daren, nice to have met you to, always good to put a face with a name.
B Aceves, yup, rules are rules. Dave, again with the funny stuff. Here are some more pictures of the track and Grace and Bill Howell's stk and ss. The picture of the track equipment prepping the track is being done on one side while the sportsman race on the other side. I'm kind of burnt out. I will have more tomorrow after I get some rest. |

To Gump I am sure you ment for the pro's right?

Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
No he meant all the Stockers shutting off at 1000ft. Its the new way to race to avoid HP.
|
Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
If they race only race top fuel to 1000', there is no reason to run stock or superstock shouldn't race that distance as well. It will confuse the fans.

Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
[QUOTE=Ken Miele;177442] I have never been to a track with those kind of numbers and ran this quick.
Kenny, if you get the time, go to the finish line at the right side of the track. Look across the track and look at the block wall on the left side of the track. Count the rows of block. Now go to the starting line and count the rows of block. The wall IS level. That track must go down hill at least 8 or 9 feet! You didn't expect Bruton to have a slow track, did you? |
Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
How is the weather down there in Concord, NC on this Friday morning? Spitting snow here in central Ma......bahhh. WJ

You should see South Georgia! It's got a bow in the track. Slow in the 1/8th mile, but you'd haul *% in the 1/4-mile. Harry Morgan's Escort notices it *bigtime*. |
Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
Craig,
No tear downs. Some of the racers here would have difficulty changing the tires on their race cars muchless trying to go through tear down. nhra will have to hire staff to help these folks tear down, or stick to tearing down the old buzzards, or give up tear down all together. Billy, Bruton's tracks are up and down. Bristol runs up hill and Charlotte runs down hill. Vegas seems about right but I never studied the grade there. This race should be known as the Four Wide Dump Nationals. I have never seen such a mess. I've bailed on runs in the past but this is crazy. Pretty soon nhra will have to hand out ahfs triggers for this behavior. |

Bruce!!! I sure feel sorry for the staff at the nursing home you end up in. lol!!!

Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
Billy, I seem to recall something about an allowable 1 percent downgrade. That would be 13.2 feet. I would expect new track builders, just like racers, to take advantage of the rules. BTW, are you there with " the Don"?

Now that's funny! I can just see some of the racers standing next to their cars scratching and waiting to figure out what tools they need to just get started on taking the new rides apart so that NHRA can inspec them. What also would be interesting is if NHRA had 4 lanes of dial in and only one winner out of the 4. Who can bag the best! |

You sure are a big time snark, but I can tell you this much, I'll never wind up in a nursing home. I know how to take care of business. Now mind your own business. |

Okay everyone lets try to get back on track so to speak. Well I got by first round, it was tough to dial this morning, the air was not as good as yesterday.
Some very good racers lost first round, giving guys like me a chance to win. The fans starting pouring in today for the fourwide, but unfortunately I could not get to watch do to a cell phone issue. I had shoot out to the store and buy a new phone. I know some don't like this new format of racing, but I was looking forward to watching it. I never watch the pro's but I was looking forward to it here. Hopefully I will get to see the second qualifying shot. I understand if most are not interested so I will say no more about it. Its started to sprinkle, so we were on hold, racing should start soon. Below are some random shots donated to me for Class Racer. |
Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
I see Ed B gave in and put graphics and decals on the car.Nice scheme, though I'm partial to the smooth look.Good luck Ed.

Here are some pictures of Anthony Bongiovanni two CJ's. He had some issues with them and decided not to run this race.
Its started to sprinkle again, we are on hold. I watch the pro stock bikes run, four wide is something to see. The perspective from the racers watching are from kind of neat to its a side show, I thinks its cool, and I was surprised to see how many sportsman were watching. |

Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
Boy, the stocker and super stocker were really racing at Z-Max yesterday and today. Does no one realize that not only can you tell at the track that the cars are putting on brakes before the finish line, but the whole race community is looking at the live times and you can see that the numbers don't add up. I guess I just don't understand racing ain't to the finish line flat out.

Ken how do you take pics like this one? I've been trying to learn how to photograph myself from a long distance while I'm strapped in the car and pulling away too LOL!!!!:p:D Seriously I love the pics. Please keep up the excellent work!!! You've got all the drag racing press beat by a mile with your field reports. |
Re: Live from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals

Mike, Dave's car is a 396, and a fast one to boot.
Butch, thanks I wish we could have talked more, did not mean to cut you short, but it has been a very busy week. Gary, that's a trade secret:cool: Thanks everyone for the good luck wishes. My driving, not so good. My luck, very good. I was in the stands for a bit watching the fourwide. The pictures below tell the story, the place is mobbed. I know some don't like it, but fourwide is cool, I wish we could run class fourwide. I wish I could give everyone better updates, drag central has all the numbers for everyone so any question you have I will be glad to help if I can. It was cold this morning, but the bite was killer. Ask Emily Stott, she almost tip over backwards. If anything interesting happens I will be back, we don't run until late this afternoon. |
