Dave & Drooze, Having not seen if in fact you did get to Vegas, we may be taking a little for granted. But if you are there, and your rig is still road worthy...This is how a logistics manager might plan your entire return trip. 1. Go to the Texas points meet next weekend. April 23-25...it is 1235 miles from Vegas. U should be able to touch base with guys there at Vegas, or on line..and line yourself up a test day before hand.2. After running the Div 4 points meet you can still get in at the National event at Gateway Madison,Ill.runs from April 30 thru May 2. It is 640 miles from Dallas to gateway.3. Run the National at Gateway(There are still about 30 entires open in stock if I remember right). bring yourselves back to Barberton fromMadison,Ill. 544 miles from Madison. Yoyal miles for return doing this way shows around 2425...and you would have a dvisional next wekend, and a national event the following weekend. And that should give you info for another 500 posts or so. Just my 2 cents worth. Mileages taken from my PC Miler. Myron Stutes Columbus,Oh

I was just checking the Vegas entry list and noticed there are no Dodge Challengers entered. Did I miss something?

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas

We were registerd for Stock withthe Challenger, but time ran out, and we didn't the car into Vegas in time.

We could not get teched in today to get into Super Gas, so the car will only drive around in the pits and not hit the track this weekend.

The car is now in the pits in Vegas, and tomorrow morning will be moved to the Mopar Direct Connection booth for the day.

As for going to Indy or Texas, as it turns out all three of us all have committments on Monday of the week after Indy, and there is no way we could get home from Texas in time. Although it made good sense for a lot of reasons to go to Texas, those committemnts make Indy which is only 6 hours from home for us, the choice we are making.

Weather is always a concern, and last I checked, there was nothing I could do about the weather, so Indy it will be, rain or shine....

We will be wandering around the pits in Vegas tomorrow for most of the day, and have already met a couple of Class Racer folks... Good to put real people with the text....

People keep asking "why", and the probably the best answer was given... Because we can. I will only say this once because I don't dwell on it, but life is too short (have a Doctor tell you that you have 6-9 months to live and see if you don't agree with me.) and nobody is promised tomorrow. Getting this car down the track and actually being more than competitive is on my Bucket list... And it is the only thing there, that hasn't been accomplished yet... So why do we do it? Because we have to do it and we do it with a sense of urgency that sometimes overcomes common sense.... But we will keep going as long as we can... And we WILL get it done.

Under Chris Wertman they had it listed as a 99 challenger instead of an 09.

Mr Dave and Chris. Eventhough you didn't make the show I still think it is pretty cool to be able to have taken the chance. I know Chris will have some wild road stories for us to read after this trip is finally over. Good luck in Indy and don't hesitate to call if you need anything.

ESPN did report that a pro testsession is being held in Vegas on Monday... Not sure if Sportsmen racers can be a part of that session... Might be worth a try before heading to Indy.......

Mack I think that is for testing the new goodyear slicks only.

P.S. Does anybody know where the line is for the free slicks the pro's get?:D

The Division 5 points race, in Great Bend , Kansas ,this coming weekend has a testntune on Thursday before the race. Should be close to your route on your way home. Usually not alot of car at this race, so you could plenty of passes.

In prior years track operator has allowed you to test on Pro test days....but at the same price that the pro pay.

Greg, and are any of us going to be suprised when we see it on Speed channel in the fall? It's perfect, the trials and tribulations of the "average" American family. Spunkie kid, hot mom, dumb as a stump dad, grandpop and a cast of colorful characters. If Drooze hasn't thought of this already I'll be shocked!
Geez, we have already lived through a John Force TV show!

Now that is funny - but we do keep reading the posts and responding

I am surprised, as tough as Ken (the administrator) is, that he has not moved this

But maybe it is OK to be entertaining - I have some really good road trip episodes, escapades, tales - I could post - I am sure we all do

Do we believe it all? It must be true - after all it is on the internet

LOL

It is just how racing frequently goes - it is what makes it interesting and "fun"

Actually I kept up with Drooze on his trip and believe it or not it is all true. To me this is a break from reading the same post about bogus horsepower and oddball muscle cars.

OK........

My last race was 2 weeks ago at Atco....the Open series race.

I just redid the trans in my S/C dragster (don't throw any fits cause I don't have a friggen Stocker). I did my own trans.....was having trouble hitting the .370 tree.....I gutted the trans and replaced the VB and some other parts. Tested it at home and it was fine on jackstands.....

Loaded up my stuff.... Car in the trailer, camper on my pickup....

Drove to Atco after work thursday...2.5 hours. Arrived in time for beer to celebrate arriving alive......

Watched my friend make a mess as he changed his trans that was puked!.

Made 2 runs next day.....trans leaked.....I fixed it... it was a minor error on my part and not much of a leak.........haven't done my own transmission in a long time......

Made 2 more runs next day before first rd......got my act together and went to rd 3 on Sunday........missed the tree and got the big L on my ticket.....

Hung out....talked to some of my Stocker friends and enjoyed watching and the beautiful weather.......got my "gas money" check and headed back up north.......Arrived home in one piece on time and put some of my stuff away......Went in the house and rest up some......go to work Monday at 6:30

Proper planning.......things went well.....no mishaps....no big stories.....Could have easily been a Stocker with the same story........

for a high Neilsen rating this season....

Here is a guy that is doing whatever he can to help his dad fulfill a bucket list. He drove accross the country, didn't make it in time and you have never heard them complain. He didn't gripe because NHRA wouldn't let them in or give them a refund. He just simply documented a time with his Father that soon will only be great memory. I lost my dad in the early 80's in a car accident. I would give anything in the world to have known he was going to be leaving this earth. I would have wanted to let the world know everything we did and how much I enjoyed spending every second of every day with him. So please if you don't want to read the post or if you think it is that boring then just don't click on it. It is hurting no one by having it on here and I for one enjoy getting the updates. Keep up the good work Drooze and crew. We will be there as soon as we can.

It is not bashing

I am sure we all have well and good reason to do what we do

We have all had extraordinary things happen on our road trips

I am just saying it belongs in the lounge

If I or anyone else started posting BLOGS here they would be gone in 60 seconds

Andy's Dad or whatever you name is. Why keep complaining about where this post belongs. The moderators don't seem to see it your way so It is very simple. DON'T READ IT AND MOVE ON. It involves racing and according to the rules this is where it belongs. Do you have a personal problem with Drooze or his dad? Geez man move on.

Hey Harry, lighten up! When was the last time you watched a halfhour network sitcom? It's always the same formula and I have to say that Drooze and family (at least online and no intentional offense to them) fit the formula. I hope to hell they do get a TV deal, I'd watch it!

The car I race was built by my father and me and he was full of cancer head to toe when we to were building it and that was one of the things on his "bucket list"...build and race a car that resembled what he raced in the 70's. And we did it...he raced a week before he died. But people are right...this is a forum flood. Anything over 70 posts should be in the lounge. Im sure if you asked, class racer sould put up a spot just for you guys to post updates on your build and the troubles you fellas are having keeping these hi tech machines together. I would check it out for sure but its too much reading....love the chat but when there is 90 line and 500++ word replys its not enjoyable to read. Im interested in the factory produced race cars and wish I could afford to build or own one. Thats the only reason why I check these posts out.

Yes they made it to Indy. Ran 11.5 popping in high gear and was running rich last night. They were tuning the car this morning but haven't heard anything yet.

Re: DP #24 Drooze, Mandie & Pop shooting for Vegas

We got here Thurday morning and ran a couple runs in Test and Tune, now we are just waiting for the rain to stop. We are back in our hotel rooms, and as soon as they start drying the track, maybe within the next hour, we will buzz back.

We have our new tune, and will put it on the car as soon as the rain stops so we can get the car out of the trailer.

We have met a lot of very nice folks and are having a good time, in spite of everything.. Folks from guys in NHRA Tech to ones just walking by have said, "welcome, we watch you online and read the blog regularly... nice to see the car and meet you!" And meeting Doug, Randy and Irv has been a special treat..We are the only ones here running a 5.7 as the rest of the guys are still running their 6.1s...So we are not running them head to head. And it would be nice to get into the 10's today.

Everything is damp but our spirits...

Don't you love the midwest in spring??? We have a saying in Ohio. If you don't like the weather, just stick around, it will change... and this time of year in the midwest that saying fits just fine...
