Well gang here's the thing - I just found out that SuperStock isn't going to run until late this afternoon and along with the fact I can't earn any more points here this weekend I've decided to go somewhere else where I can earn some -- another race - nahhh - but if I hit the road now I can pick up the Mrs. in Bethlehem and be in Atlantic City by dinner time - and that my friends will earn some points -- trust me its a long season and one needs all the points that can be earned .

I just spoke with Kenny and you should have seen his face when I told 'em he was back to work this weekend filling in for me ..........be kind to him please as writing and taking pictures are not his thing ......but he loves racing and both fans and racers so you'll be in good hands .........till the next time ..........and there will be a next time ! ! !

Good move Jack, home points are just as valuable if not more than grade points.
Have a safe trip back home.

Hey Jack or Kenny,

Did anyone have the weather for the TT this morning, also how much did it change for first round ( DA ) ?? Thanks & drive safe...
Happy July 4 th to everyone ..........

Ken Miele 07-03-2010 03:52 PM

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Thanks for the intro Jack.

Dave, here are the numbers for this mornings qualifying for Stock.
Temp 76
Humd 49
Bar 29.50
DA 2243

For the first round of Stock it was.....
Temp 82
Humd 33
Bar 29.48
DA 2594

I few picked up this morning, I should have picked up 2, but lost a few on the sixty.

Don't have much info on first round of stock, I know Tim Fletcher won first round in Stock, this is his debut in Stock. Talk about the luck I am having, it was a dead heat for me. Conway and me took the stripe with no margin, .0000. WOW ! When I rolled out of the throttle, I though I had him by wheel. I guess I'm getting to old to know where I'm at.

Super Stock was a little ugly, they just finished. Some guys blew the tires away. I know Thomas Fletcher spun fifteen hundreds along with a few others.

The sun has been out all day and looks like the track was getting beat
up pretty good. Tomorrow morning will be okay, but the afternoon will be tough.

A quick note on Ralph Porpora's qualifying run today. As you see from the picture, traction is not an issue. I talk to Ralph at the end of the track and he said the only damage to the car when it came down was the head lights fell out.

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Thanks for the great reports Jack and Ken....some great superstock cars/drivers in the game after round 1. I know it probably won't happen, but would sure love to see a matchup between either of the SS/AH '68 Hemi'cudas ( Al Smyth & Larry Perkins) and John Armstrong's SS/AA '69 427 Corvette--all 3 are strong 8 second monsters.........(Ken, if you get a chance to snap a pic of these 3 cars, it'd be greatly appreciated)....what a treat to have them and all the other great ones that showed here in this tough field.....good luck to everyone still standing in SS and Stock.....tomorrow's supposed to be nasty hot... ;) WJ

Good morning all. Its another beautiful day, although getting warm fast here at Lebanon Valley. It is supposed to reach the lower 90's today. Super Gas is out first followed Super Street then Stock, schedule start time is 9:30.

Good luck Ken. Lets see you back up your National event win. Thanks for the photos and reports.

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Thanks Terry, 2nd round of stock is done as you can see on DRC. The numbers for the 2nd were a little slower then yesterday.

Temp85
Humd39
Bar29.33
DA3070
head wind 4-5mph

The sun is going to take a toll on the track today, yesterday the Super Stockers were having a tough time. Cars that I never see spin could not get a hold of the track.

I see one heads up for 3rd round of Stock. Fletcher and Farrell. It will be a while before stock runs again.

Super Stock has been called to the lanes. I'm heading up to the lanes now to see how the handle the starting line.

Bryan Worner 07-04-2010 10:20 AM

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

My guess will be not good. It will be a one lane race track again! Maybe not this morning so much but the later rounds. What bothers me about this is nothing is done about it! Year after year we go to this ****hole and it seems to get worse. The track personnel just stand there and watch car after car blow the tires off! The "new" track surface is one of the bumpiest I've ever raced on! And the starting line and burnout box are the absolute worst!

They are more worried about checking drivers for their wristbands than taking care of the racing surface! And not once did I see a water truck going around to wet down any pit road in that dust bowl!

Good luck to all that are still there.

Good afternoon - Well I'm back in Bethlehem and my points at home are padded a bit by my trip home yesterday for sure . With the help of Kenny who is still in and a few helpers and spies I'll try and keep you up to date as to whats happening at the "Valley" .

S/S rd 3 -I'm told the track was very good for this round with no spin issues. Sal got another bye ...can you believe it .Fetch over Iacono -- Franco over Leber -- Marc LaBrecque moves on .....Attitude at 3300 ft --- 88 degrees with a strong headwind .

Stock rd3 should be out in 40 minutes or so .......

Go Kenny ..................

Bryan -- I have to agree here as yesterday I saw 4 wheelers going down the lane you're in and I couldn't believe the amount of dust they were throwing up - pitiful , just pitiful .Wetting the lanes down would have helped a bunch ..............

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Stock rd3 --Tim Fletcher(10.86) over Farrell (11.16) heads-up -- who spun bigtime - George LaBelle is on to rd4 - Shaul wins - Jason Silver took out DeMarzo - our own Kenny loses with a .001 light when he dumped Dave Casey too soon .......

S/S coming up ...............

Jack Matyas 07-04-2010 01:01 PM

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Stock rd4 -- Fletcher over Silver--- Shaul over Casey -- McGrath in ..........and get this - Tim Fletcher will face Scott Goshert in rd5 heads-up ...........

Only bits from rd3 S/S -- Sal spun (track going away ? ) -- Marc loses with a .002 light with a runout run

Here is some pictures of the winners. Anthony Fetch Driving Gary Richard's GT/DA 2001 Firebird.

Timothy Fletcher driving Dan Fletcher's E/SA1969 Camaro.

Conragts to Anthony and Timothy, two great racers, and great people.

A side note about Timothy. Before this race Timothy had only be down the track twice in his dad's stocker and that was on Wednesday before they got to Lebanon. Timothy brackets races at the local track with the family's13 second chevelle wagon.

Congrats to Timothy!

Does anyone know the background of the Fletcher '69 Camaro stocker? Didn't the super stock Camaro originally belong to Dan's father and curious if the stocker Camaro has equally unique family history?

I'd bet Ralph sure misses his old wheelie bars. He could have replaced the ones ruled illegal with regular wheelie bars like everyone else uses. They could have saved the expensive fix that's probably needed now.

I believe the stocker is a car Dan bought when he was younger and drove to high school. Congrats Tim! Unbelievable job in your first stock race. Enjoy!

Thanks to Howie Commander Wayne Delmonte and the whole Lebanon Valley crew for a great weekend ! You should be proud what you've accomlished in the last year after the devasting flood you went thru . The weather couldn't have been better and the race ran smooth and for the most part the bite was sure good ! We can all complain about something at every race track ( sand , sharp traprock , all blacktop , not enough blacktop, water weeping ,getting bumped , rushing the sportsman ........ ) Bottom line very improved facility !!!! So thanks again to the Lebanon Valley Crew and Bob langs Div1 Crew !

See post 46. Ralph told Ken that the only problem was broken headlights.

When he checks close he will find more. When I went on the almost identical ride, cracked trans case, alt, rad support, motor mounts, etc. Racing these cars without wheelie bars is not a good idea!

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

I agree it was a great weekend of racing. There was no shortage of racers, in fact the place was packed. We had a lot of fun as usual and there were lot of old timers at the race checking things out. The D-1 crew was working hard and the track personel was welcoming. Diamond RV was a great sponsor and the luxury book was an oasas from the elements. I had a great 1st round race with Jim Boudreau and then was tatooed in the 3rd round by Jason Silver. I am looking forward to the next D-1 race.

That's a possibility. We got lucky, the orange car only bent the headers a little, killed an O2 sensor, dented the pan, and killed the shocks. Anthony wasn't as lucky at Memphis, I had to swap cases on his transmission, and Rod Nut swapped oil pans and oil pumps, he worked pretty hard to get Anthony to Milan the next weekend.
