Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
Other then the weight of the casting, there is no advantage to run the aluminum E Pontiac head over a cast head. The E head is actually smaller then the cast head.

Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
Don't forget about Jaques Blais out of CT.... he has a great car (Mid-90's mustang)... w/ a 460 Ford Combo.... doesn't get out much.... in good conditions/good track... the full feed bag tune-up, etc... I think he'd be right there with these other guys. I believe he also is the record holder in D or E...

You know as I do its not what's correct but what's legal. When you say bogus, we didnt invent the model of NHRA bogus. Gawd we've been running against sbc's out of checkered cabs and 400's with incorrect heads should I go on? It took us awhile but we learned, in fact we got way more flak from the pontiac community that you guys. :(. If you want to run old SS rules, lets do everything not just what you want to pick on. How many RPMs would you turn with cast iron rods, cranks, stock block and stock valves? You can't point at one thing and say "at least" when your benefiting from it in other ways is all I'm saying. ;) Bischoff has my cast iron heads flowing almost the same at 10 hp less rating. Its the effort, time and cost we saved not a bunch of power. The cc's determine that, everyone knows that. We have to fill IN the edlebrocks 27 cc's on the intake runner!!! Tony was willing to do what was needed on the old iron heads, but its still on the back burner do to cost and time! Wasn't sure of your intention on that statement, but some people took it that way. What did you mean exacty? Stacy |

Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
Because all he sees around town driving them are high school girls or parked at a trailer house. I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin. Cavalier would never be on my list of cool fast cars if I had no idea of Super Stock.

Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!

Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
Well!!! We will find out at Indy who haves the baddest GT/DA in the county!!! There are some fast cars in DA with Jerry, Paul, Phil, But if I was a betting man. MY MONEY WOULD BE ON THAT BES HORSEPOWER!!!!!

Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
All combinations have variable advantages. Where a Pontiac lacks a Chevy gains, and vice versa, as far as combination advantages go. Chevy's HP factors are equally as spurious as Pontiac's Edelbrock replacements. Phil/Peter's versus Silveus' heads-up run will prove that to you. Power versus Weight; simple physics.
There is a devoid history, for the 428 Pontiac, prior to the release of the Edelbrock replacements. Having said that, I wouldn't exactly jump to conclusions on the potential of the combination using factory castings. Instead of spending time mathematically comparing 10 CFM versus ~100lbs, I can tell you that the aluminum heads are futile, as far as performance goes. Like Stacy said, they're just nice, cheap replacements. Plus, Indians have been getting pooped on for centuries. It's our turn! :0) All in all, I'm just excited that SuperStock isn't as monotonous as it used to be. I'm havin some fuuuuuunnn!! |

Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
Who has a BES engine?
|
Re: The baddest GTDA in the country!
BES is Tony Bischoff out of Guilford, IN. He has either won or runnered up in the last 4-5 Engine Master Challenges. When it comes to N/A power, he the the best I can afford since Mike Edwards wont cash my checks. He has made a name for himself in the fastest street car world in the NMCA and NMRA building the fastest , most reliable, highest horsepower motors. He doesn't specialize in one engine brand. he builds wicked sbc, sbf, bbc, bbm, Pontiacs etc. He built Phils 428 currently in the Hatari and Stacy's GT/AA motor. I think he also just went thru someone's SS/AH motor and a wedge mopar as well. It is not uncommon for him to have 75-100 engines in the shop. He head and cast intake work is second to none!
