Stock is just finishing their last T-T and let me tell you again -- over 4500' and now as predicked the track is going away - that steamship of mine that will usually hook in a sandstorm lost four in the sixty from yesterday so ........

The wind has been picking up all afternoon and the forecasters are saying we'll have a storm by 5pm - only a half hour from now .

Good news -- only thing I have is the fact that I probably lost a couple of pounds this afternoon in the heat - this is the kind of day that folks like John Force really earn it - I can't imagine being in a stocker let alone a Funny Car in this heat with a triple layer suit on .

6:15 pm -- So far the storm has held off and they plan on running a bunch of first rounds tonight but no word as to who goes when - its 'gonna be a late night for sure .At this moment the "leakers" are out and then I'm told the .90 cars are coming out .......we'll see . At this time its still 94 degrees .......but who's counting

SuperStock got round one in -Track was great -they prepped it hard - NHRA finally saw fit to do it right .........they still haven't called Stock and its 9:05 pm with lightning around us ..............

OK - Stock has been over for more than an hour but i've been celebrating with some friends and ignoring you guys - sorry ......

Anyway the track was great as expected you but i can't give you much in the way of results as I was one of the last pairs down the track .Most picked up 3 to 5 .......

Bright and early tomorrow morning we'll start with SuperStreet at 8:30 ......

As you'll see there were even a few fans in the stands for the first round of S/S .

Back to the hotel and it's midnight. No dining this evening. A very long day for sure. Time run at 4:30PM and then 1st round for me at 10:15PMish............


Was looking forward to the Pizza Cottage but that didn't happen.

Thanks Greg, I don't drive that well at night so I surprised myself too. It was a very long day for all of us........missed the trek to the Pizza Cottage! B. Wenzel keeps telling me we came here to race, not to eat.....LOL....

There were no Dave Ley sightings at the HeyMan Ice cream stand.......what's up with that?

Good morning ! ! ! Now that everyone has had some rest its on to round two on this drop dead nice Sunday morning .That Sun yesterday just plain cooked us and it really wears you out - I've never downed so many bottles of water in one 24 hour period as I have the last one .What in the world was I thinking when I decided to come here this weekend ?

Last night even though they said we were going to hit storms they missed us but it did give a terrific light show and we were spared once again - I can't believe it but they're calling for more storms again later this morning and then a huge weather change--- temps much lower this afternoon -- once again we'll see .Back soon ..............

9:15 update - Rain just hit - they sent everyone back to the pits -- coming down in buckets / cats & dogs ........well you get it .Did I mention that this "new" coach is a great place to be "holed-up" in the bad weather and the basement AC has worked flawlessly the entire trip - kept it like a meat locker every day .......thanks again Marc ! ! !

We're probably going to lose a few hours to this storm ...................Many who lost last evening and were going to stick around today are now hightailing it out of here before it gets bad ........

Well it stopped raining and i've instructed Billy to put a hold on building our ark as the Sun has returned and "they" are starting to dry out the track - should be maybe an hour and change at least .

Racers spent the last two hours just sitting around bench racing and telling tall tales - some relived last nights victory - others just said what they should've done to win .And a few just rested a little more as pictured below - shown is our Mr.McNeish catching 40 more winks .

I'll be back .............

One last thing - I can't verify this fact but I'm told that there is not a track dryer (as in Jet) on the grounds - what did they think would happen if it rained or had blow-ups ? Just a thought...........

Hey Jack. Thanks for the great blow by blow reporting. We lost power and net Friday. We have been running on my 7000 EXL generac since then. You need to keep in mind that the track seeps water after the sun comes out following a storm such as you had this morning. Good Luck to all who have braved this hell hole. BTW Jack, do you think you will be back next year?

The reason there is no jet dryer is that it is at ORP for the Nascar truck and nationwide race at the oval. See where sportsmen drag racers stand .
