First round of Stock went OK - weather was a factor for sure - most slowed up .02 to .03 - track was pretty good - no reason to be scared of it today - saw a few spin but with overcast skies for most of the round the track can't be blamed ..........on to two .

Onan Gen Sets Check the rotor they crack in two sometimes and unit will almost want to start. The bad thing is it's between the gen and back side of the engine.

If you were not on the grounds last night lets just say you missed an opportunity - Stock and S/S under the lights was a thrill -- and I must say even the .90 classes provided some close racing .The rain held off until almost midnight and most everyone had already hit the hay as it was one of the longest racing days we've had in some time .

Last evening provided some real fun for this reporter as I was invited to have dinner with the 'Bender Family' - this was an old fashioned affair - one that reminded me of a time gone by - the one before motorhomes and enclosed trailers -- long before TV dishes and cell phones . The meal was prepared and cooked (and very well I might add ) on the back of someones ramp truck--- almost in the dark but it didn't seem to matter as everyone had a great time -- winners and losers -- and we all got to watch some great racing together - the way things used to be . Its been a very long time since I've had that much fun watching a race .My hats off to Bobby - Penny - Gary -Michelle - Bill - Ken .....well I forgot a bunch but you get it .All of this made me think of some friends I would see at every event - you'll remember too -- Stein - Cook - Welsh - Smith - Xakellis -- its always nice to remember 'back in the day' ................

Today's racing -- unsure is the best word at the moment .At this time its still dark out but plenty wet - not raining but but it would take some serious Sun to dry us out - I'm sure the NHRA and Cecil County staff will do their best to dry us out but more could be on the way -- we'll see .I'll be back a little later with an update .

Hey Jack, Thank You for stopping over. We always have a good time without all the frills. Taylors ramp truck and my trailer make great serving tables. We hope everyone will stop by and say "HI" when ever we go. Thanks again Jack.....................

As of when I left the track yesterday, the schedule was that everyone would get a time trial starting at 10 am, then eliminations would begin after that. I'll check with NHRA and will make a change on DRC if that has changed.

Jim I am pretty sure you are right with the 10:00 start. I couldn't hear the speakers that well no matter where I was pitted this weekend.

We would certainly Welcome any of you that were not so fortunate at Cecil right down the road in Budd's Creek this weekend! Sat/Sun only and I believe there is still a (1) time no membership required race for anyone who is not an IHRA member! How can you beat that? Try it, you may actually like it and we would certainly welcome you with open arms.

Saturday fields -Stock - 26 remain in - interesting match-ups -- Szupka I/SA v Fetch D/SA --- Porpora A/S (current D1 points leader ) v Jim Conte Jr.C/SA -- long head-start to Cokinos P/S v Totaro B/SA .

SuperStock - 19 remain in - Sal Biondo leads off with a bye - R.Linke SS/JA v N.Hall GT/CA . BTW, a Linke resides on both sides of the ladder -- could be the longshot of the race having them meet in the final .

It was mighty nice of Div 1 to schedule it on top of Bowling Green and Budds Creek!

Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Yup, it blew our plans to go to MIR this year since we are still in. Still wondering with about 150+ cars left they just didn't move it too E-Town or Atco but, I guess cause T/S and T/D don't run anymore this year besides the Dutch with everyone.. I have a feeling there is going to be A LOT of bye-runs tomorrow morning for 2nd and 3rd round action.

jwsamuel 08-27-2010 08:49 PM

Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

There would not be enough time to run it at Englishtown because of the curfews. No TS or TD at either E'town or Atco, so the next chance to run them would be the Dutch Classic.
