You're right Mark. In fact the last Chev 305 2bbl. was 1979, and it wasn't offered in the Malibu's then either. Maybe Carrol Shelby sent a letter though?!!!

Jerry

Markie- my bad - you're right - no 305 / 2bbl ............however here's the bad news - its a 350 cid / 2bbl -- 180hp - a legit combo ...............How did Billy Nees miss this one ?

The King is gone - Don Fizell has been dethroned - his hold on being #1 qualifier has been broken by none other than the "New" CobraJet player in town - Gary Richard .Turns out his run yesterday was legit -- nothing more than math errors - not sure on whose part but he's in as #1 at 1.333 under -- B/SA --- 9.917 et .

Today's Stock field will have 99 entries - the final nine are cars that have not had a time trial and are going in blind . The weather has changed a little but still looks fast -- eighty degrees --32% humidity -- 29.88 barometer - 1871 DA .

Heads-up -- a pair - Lynch v Keith O.- H/SA -----Kershner v Silver -- E/SA

Long head start - get this -- Ken Meile AA/SA v Joe Cieri T/SA -- here's another -- Rich Atkins B/S v Ed Fernandez T/SA

"350/180 is a diesel " If that's the case, FUEL CHECK should be interesting.

Jack, if you see Don Fezell or Bob Hallstrom, please tell them that the NHRA has raised the Stock quota for Reading from 80 to 100. At Indy, I told Bob that Stock was already over quota at 81 and they weren't on the entry list. He was quite surprised that it filled up so quickly, so this should be good news for them. However, they better get their entry in quickly, it is already at 90; 10 spots left. Thanks.

It could be a 78 car now, with a 2GC 305. It better have single square headlights though.

Billy, I knew it was a typo, but I didn't know how much of one. It's hard to teach those ol' computers new tricks.
Good combo. Camaro's better for U/SA though...

I was looking at the ladder on DRC and it shows 3 bye runs for the second round.
Is that right?

I only see one bye. Steve Szupka got a bye because it looks like Gary Richard didn't show up to take his first round bye.

Re: Live from Englishtown - NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series

I had a blast at the race once again...there was some controversey due to a schedule which originally called for 1 tentitive TT on saturday and then eliminations.

They changed the schedule on Friday with no TT satruday and for the race to be completed all on saturday. I feel bad for the racers who came in saturday am and had to race with no TT but friday to saturday's was a crap shoot anyway.

Some racers went to Atco friday night to test and then straight to raceway park for elimiations after finding out the schedule change.

I thought it is was a good call due to the sunday forcast, I do not think I would like it every race but raceway park has such tight curfews that I support the decision.

The track was well prepped and I did not feel rushed, great weekend of racing here in beautiful division 1.

Now I get to go to my daughters college soccer game Sunday.... The best of all worlds

More photos from John DiBartolomeo DRAG RACING ACTION Magazine.

My hat goes off to NHRA for getting most of the race done in two days. I am sure this has been said before, but the whole NHRA crew worked there butts off to finish the program before the bad weather came in.

Its raining this morning and not sure if the last few finals will be run today.
Super Stock, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top ALcohol Funny Car are left.

Art

I'll answer your question on why was there three bye runs in round 2 of SS.
************************************************** **********************************

Sal Biondo had the scheduled rd 2 bye after getting a bye run in rd 1 (when #2 qualifier frank modugno was a no-show).

David Barton got a rd 2 bye because #1 qualifier and record setter (joe garbarine) did not show for his first rd bye (and gave David a free pass in rd 2).

Frank Aragona got a free run in rd 2 also because his opponent was supposed to be the winner of the Greg Porter (who no-showed for rd 1) and Rich Diorio. Rich attempted his bye but something happened to his throttle (stuck???) and after a long burnout, he shut off and was pushed back (don't know if he was dq'ed or broke). That gave Aragona the rd 2 bye.

Jerry - I'd like to have what he spent this weekend - after watching teardown Friday afternoon that had at least 5 guys working on that CJ it left on an open trailer to a unknown shop to be put back together and I watched it come back into the track early Saturday morning on the same trailer to race first round - and it ran well . And truthfully after seeing that engine apart I hope they sell them with a very thick manual ........................As a side note - the "crew" that were working on his CJ worked better together than some Top Fuel teams I've watched ! ! !

And what a very fortunate break for them!! Broke the motor in the semis!!! I understand Zane was waiting in the lanes for the final, when they called it due to curfew!!!

Re: Live from Englishtown - NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series

Wrong info. Motor was not broke, was on my way to the lanes.
