There is nothing in the world like the sound of a pump action shotgun chambering a round. Will make the most experienced thief or lowlife think it is time to move on and YOU don't have to be dead-on. 12 gauge / 6 shot Mossberg 500 JIC Great home defense weapon.

Glad you caught the Guy "Crook" ******* ect. I like hooking my dusk to dawn motion lights up to a 110v twickle charger, hook the 12v leads up to a couple of inexpensive car alarm sirens that put out a great sound in the middle of the night when the lights go on !!
seems to get thier attention and wakes up everyone in the nieghborhood too , good luck !
including me ! Lol>>>> Gota love that cha-cheg on the pump shotgun , can't beat it !

Saw a sign once down in southern IL where I hunt,

If you can read this, you are within range.

I kept moving.

By the way, my wife has the Smith and Wesson, I have Kahr .40 and "several" long hunting guns

Yes Art, I seem to remember that little incident. You left traces in the outlets and I believe it was after you tried to remove it?

since you can't shoot them to protect your property I guess your best bet is to hide the body where no one will find it.

If the ******* is in your house and you Feel threatened you can shoot here in TX, the guy up on the corner shot and killed an intruder with no charges filed. The ******* had a gun.

Infra red, wildlife camera's do give you some very damning "evidence"...... They dont even know they were on Candid Camera until its too late on some ! Motion activated, and better ones are silent almost.

Update!!!!! Just saw the obituary in the local paper this morning complete with photograph of my intruder. I'm not sure what happened to him but is very unfortunate of what happens to some of our youth's lives these days. I must say though he only represents an insignificant percent of some of the young folk I've met recently. What do you think? Is there really an improvement in the character of more of our youth today or am I just getting mellower and more accepting? Never thought I would say that!!!!

Re: Had an uninvited visitor in my shop this morning!

Let me guess, "in loving memory of a sweet caring young boy" Or some other such bull****. **** him, he was a criminal, the worlds better off without him.

Yeah in Canada you can only use as much force as required to protect yourself and no more. In other words, your attacked by a known "problem" that is 2" taller and 30lb's heavier, but you bust his head open and put him in the hospital for 3 months and he loses 60% of vision in one eye...they charge you with;
1) manslaughter, the same day
2) attempted manslaughter when he didn't die after all
3) reduce it to aggravated assault with intent to injure when they find out who he is
4) judge see's both of us side by side and the whole story comes out. Calls it assault and gives me 30 days of striped sunlight and him 7 days for being in front of him again.
If I defended myself I would of been OK according to the "legal experts" but since I went a little beyond, that was considered "excessive" and the reason for my charge.

So, in Canada, if they are attacking you and you defend yourself (not with a gun unless he has one too, gotta be fair to criminals right?) you can only go as far as it takes to stop them. If he runs or turns his back and you shoot him or after him, YOU will be charged.
This happened in Fredricton N.B. a few years back. A store owner robbed for the umptenth time chased the crooks out and fired a couple of shots into the van as they were excaping, HE was charged/fined for misuse of a weapon/endangering lives/blah,blah,blah.

The only good news is, just the other day I heard something about "castle laws" by the Conservative gov. Never heard what it's about and there was talk of "vigilantyism" or whatever.
Any other Canadians on here heard about it?

I personally would love to see a law where I can protect my property with any means neccessary!

The first officer smiled and asked, Hmmm What happened here? Enough said! My question now is. What do you have for security other than a monitored alarm? It is definately time to install something ASAP. I often times never even locked the shop because our German Shepherd did a fine job of keeping us secure however after 14 faithful years she is recently no longer with us ( boy do I miss her). Doug

I have a SIG 357,Remington 12 Gauge Shotgun and a M4 223 rifle for additional security. LOL

I like that system plus the automatic phone service call to retrieve the password---no password , Police notified ! My house is wired like that and I sleep well.

1st sound they hear around here will be "bang!" not the sound of one being chambered

btw, i asked my wife what she should say..."stop or i'll shoot" or "bang! stop or i'll shoot"...
she said the 1st and i told here that's wrong and also told her if someone is in the house uninvited, they KNOW they aren't supposed to be there....

A good quality guard dog will give you relief from 98% of unwanted rearends, now for the other 2% a good quality short barrel Remington repelling shotgun(trench gun) loaded with sea salt with take the fight out of anyone. It's legal in Canada(just don't go chasing after him).lol No one has to live with taking a life over goods that can be replace, doesn't matter how worthless the individual is.CR

..."No one has to live with taking a life over goods that can be replace, doesn't matter how worthless the individual is.CR"

I do not agree...

While this sounds good, and we all wish we could just make them say sorry, and never do it again, it is not real life. Real life is that there are worthless bastaardds out there, that will kill my children or wife for a few bucks. Real life is the dope heads that are screwed up and stealing stuff, and will hurt you in a minute. They do not care about your life or your property. They are there to steal. In this situation, you do not have a second chance.

I legally carry a gun. Have for years with a conceal carry permit. Had to live in IL for a few years, and at times carried illegally there (still no permits in Obama land...). Now living in TX, and laws are MUCH better. Much more aimed for protecting the law abiding person, and allowing you to properly defend you and yours, as needed. If it happens, and the law is involved, then "Better judged by 12 than carried by 6" has long been my motto. My wife has been trained to shoot, and fully understands the guns I give her to use. My children are also familiar with guns, and use them with proper supervision.
While car parts and material stuff can be replaced, life can not. I value my family a whole lot more than some worthless SOB that is trying to steal or hurt my family. I will shoot them dead in a minute, and never lose a minutes sleep over it. As someone else said, a dead man will not testify against you either.
While I do not go looking for trouble, it is in their best interest to stay far away from my family and property.
I wish we all lived in a world where this was not an issue, but since it is not, I prefer to be prepared.

I do truly hope that those that make a decision not to defend themselves fully, never are in a situation where they or there family regret that.

Ken Graham
