We plan on storing #1, and racing #3. If the other guys who are getting No 1 thru 10 want to post, they can tell you who they are. Some very well known names.

With the HP letters being sumitted and granted HP or being turned down, does anyone have an idea what NHRA looks at when making decisions? I know of one V6 FWD FI combo that`s been given back at least 25 HP in a span of about 6 or 7 years to be rated less than a carburated combo and go from being an uncompetitive car to being .40 under the new indexes and doing nothing to the car? I`ve written letters and got nothing, where some have submitted timeslips from a bracket race and received a HP reduction. Not looking for sympathy, just looking for answers to what NHRA looks at.

A question to Jason.
The cam stayes the same lobe lift.
If the rocker ratio is increased from 1.60 to 1.65 will the valve lift
1. remain the same
2.decrease
3 increase

Dan

A few questions for Dan.

The specs sent out for your engine in 19?? were what they were. Did the factory technican sending the specs back then know what your engine was built with? Would you like to have a new rocker arm ratio on your engine? If so just call the factory and see if you can get an increase on your engine's rocker arm ratio and cam lift.

I'm sure it would all be readily accepted!

The rocker arm ratio was a missprint in the original specs. It should have always read 1.65 to 1.

The cam lift should have remained the same as originally printed as it was not a missprint. The cam lift as originally printed has passed teardown because the engines were built to the old spec using 1.65 rockers.

DP racers got an early christmas present on the new cam lift.

It's about time we got something. We been pooed on for years. And I am thankful to Santa Clause. I heard Santa also had some special facial creme that removes the Bowtie from the middle of the forehead. It's gonna be a long winter.

Not the whole operation, I'm planning on getting some of it with my letter from Carol Shelby stating that the Paxton supercharger
was offered on the '67 GT500's.
Rated at only 425hp!

Speaking of Christmas presents... I've been doing a lot of research. I'm officially working on a new program to run Stock and Super Stock in both NHRA and IHRA in 2011. For all the Mopar nuts out there, if you need parts and pieces (not to mention whole cars, although I'm not going that nutty!), Jeff Teuton at Southland Dodge is the guy to talk to. Tim Sloan at Sloan Racing Engines will be building the Super Stock engine. The 360 Magnum crate motor is for sale (see Classifieds). And until someone buys the Turismo out from under me, we're gonna go play in Stock, and y'all can sit on the starting line for awhile! :D

Re: new hp

Michael, I was only kidding about some 'go fast guy' building a crate motor stocker for your class. LOL

Michael Beard 12-08-2010 09:33 PM

Re: new hp

Sloan's already built some -1.40 under capable stuff that hasn't even been squeezed that hard... I just don't have the dollars for the high end stuff! :p He's pretty sharp... used to build a lot of the Top Stock stuff.

For me, I'm just looking at the schedule. While I'm not a fan of the lengthy events, fact is there's more and more NHRA stuff in my area, and I can still run a full IHRA schedule on top of that. Running in both sanctions is going to allow for more visibility for my sponsors, and with even limited success, it should be a boost financially as well. The Super Stock combination we're building is still going to be a good Footbrake combination that I can bracket race on the "off" weekends.

Re: new hp

You have it all wrong it was only rated @ 325 cause it takes a 100 hp to drive the old Paxton's

283 and the rest of the stories. If you look on the request under 283s it shows chevelle and big cars down to 227 then you go down it shows 283 238 hp no change that was the hp rating for impalas so something is not right there. Now as far as GT, 230 hp for sticks 233 for autos, now in reg SS in the chevy IIs 241 for sticks {Robin Browns 1 run} 236 for autos{ Alan Patterson 3 hits in 09} that makes cars like mine no longer able to run in SS/LA unless it is in super sport trim.Nothing aganst these goys they ran there cars all out but got hp for them and everybody else in there class. If you look in the guide its all there .
