I teched Ronnie in at Indy this year and got to speak with him some. He was friendly and quite a character. He will be missed ! RIP Ronnie !

I always thought Ronnie's race cars were cool and once I got to meet him, I realized that he was even cooler. Very sad to hear. On behalf of the ND staff, my condolences to family and friends.

This is a sad day. I didn't get to see you very often anymore but it was always a treat when I did. You never failed to tell me what what an asshole I was and how I didn't deserve the wife and kid I had but I loved you anyway. RIP old friend.

Def not good news, at least Ronnie isn't suffering anymore and is in a better place. I remember him from when he owned SCR and always enjoyed watching him run the class racing. My heart and prayers go out to Sarah and the whole family. Godspeed!

I remember one time about ten years ago Ronnie gave me a hundred dollar bill. I told him I couldn't accept it, but he insisted I take it. My mom loved to talk to him when we would see him on our trips down south. I didn't get to see him much after he took over State Capitol Raceway and I stopped touring. It was a pleasure to see him again when he came to the fall race in Las Vegas over the last few years. Ronnie was a very nice man and he will be missed.

I hate I didnt get a chance to see and visit with Ronnie in the last few years. I will never forget the night I runner upped at the divisional in Baton Rouge, and he dug into his pocket and gave me an extra 100 bill.......Not many track owners would do that, it showed that he was a generous hearted guy with lots of class. He has left many great thoughts with lots of people including me. Rest in peace Ronnie :)

This really hurts, I pray for his family and everyone who knew him well. There wasn't a person who knew him that didn't love him. I got to know him when I bought a Buick from him, then sold it back to him a few years later and had many laughs over it. I'm going to really miss him and I pray everyone who knew him will hold all their memories dear to their hearts, because it will be a long time before you will meet anyone like him.

I didn't get to hang out with him at the races as much as I wanted, but he was a great guy to me also, and I'll miss him and his awesome mopar at the drags. As someone on Facebook said, you don't like to lose a loved one as it is, but especially during Christmas time. God Bless his family and close friends.... :(

Sad news.
I got to know Ronnie years back. 1993??? or so?
One time we were in Huston, TX.
We had dinner with him.
He teased the young mother of 3 waitress and gave her a hard time.
This was ALL in fun because when we all got up to leave,
Ronnie had payed for everyone and also
gave our young mother of 3 waitress a $300.00 tip!

He told here, to buy her kids something nice and don't spend it on booze, cigarettes
or as he put it, some dumb boy.

That's the way he was.

For those who were unable to attend Ronnie’s funeral, you missed quite a celebration of his life and one of the most thoughtful and impressive eulogies I suspect has ever been given. Jerry Emmons was simply incredible. During a 30 minute presentation he had us all laughing, crying and unquestionably enlightened about who Ronnie West was. What a pleasure and a privilege it was for me to have shared time with Ronnie and been left with such unforgettable times and memories. And thanks again, Jerry, for bringing back to life so many of those experiences.

Bill ,well said--Ronnie was definitely looking down yesterday and smiling ,we have lost a very very good and dear friend and drag racer and it will be a very long time for me to get over that,and the social butterfly Ronnie West will not be comming by the trailer on his scooter and giving me and everbody a blast of --it , and thanks again Jerry--If anything is perfect you were very very close yesterday--thanks--Emmett
