Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
Hey guys I'm the guy with the PT Cruiser. This was my first divisional with this car. I run the car every weekend in the local bracket races. I had a ball. The only problem was with the vp fuel, I guess. This car doesn't like it very much. I failed fuel check the first 2 runs, then passed on. The 3rd hit. I have been as quick as 14.68 with pump gas, but with the vp it was farting and missing all weekend. But still had a ball and met a ton of great people.

Any reason I'm sitting here and a car hasn't been down the track for an hour? Track and facilities will not be ready for a Nat event next year the way it looks now. They better bust their rears this off-season.

Good morning - You really have to love it - last evening SuperStock got to run during the "show" in front of a large crowd - not a packed house but plenty of fans who really enjoyed the brightly painted / whellstanding cars they don't normally see. When S/S came out for their first round my first thoughts were that the fans would get up and go for an ice cream or something but it didn't happen - they took their seats and enjoyed every minute of the S/S show . They may have come thru the gates to see the Alcohol cars and the circus acts like the Jets and Wheelstanders but you could tell the S/S ers won their hearts .
A few of the runs were really super indeed - like when the "Ice Cream man" pushed the "Terminator" out the back door and ran him out by .002 or when little Joey Santangelo put Big Bo Kenney with his new '12 Mustang back on the the trailer or when the young guns were blazing - and Arney Martel Jr. came out on top when facing Anthony Fetch - it really was a super good show - it you weren't here put it on your list for next year . And last night after S/S was over the first annual Markow Race Cars picnic was held - plenty of food and adult beverages .....and lots and I mean lots of bench racing going on - don't miss it next year ! ! ! |

Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
Had a great time regardless of the temps. It was the first time ever that I made a run when the temp was over 100 degrees. Today was a great summer day. There was a breeze every day and that made it much more bearable. Nice field of stk/ss cars, some great racing especially today. I left at 12:15 today, and they probably finished by 1 or 1:30. Jack mentioned the rain, but it was a non factor. The ground bearly got wet and dried almost immediately. must've been a cloud that followed Jack up here. Thanks to all that attended.

Last final was Stock @ 1:30. Was going to say hi to you Jack but you were deep in practice tree training; when we got back you were already gone. Track appeared to be great all day and everything went pretty smooth. Wish we could've run but was nice to see friends we haven't seen for a while. Epping has made a whole bunch of improvements over the past few years and is def a great facility. It was odd being there without the car though lol.

This event is now in the books, congratulations to Katie Sepanek, James Antonette and Joe Santangelo.
All those who raced/reported live, spectated and worked the event (track & NHRA) should also be recognized for doing their part under extreme heat. May you all stay well. MB |
Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
just wanted to clear something up that may have come out the wrong way....I had no problem with the VP fuel, the problem was my little 146ci turbo motor didnt want to run with it, the pcm was wondering what was going on with that much octane, seems the knock sensor was doing plenty of knocking and pulling timing out like crazy.... being this my first Divisional running stock there were alot of suprises that I wasnt aware of in this class. I now know I could have tried some unleaded 110 and also didnt know anything about the max weight break for the classes. Ill be better prepared next time.... but again had a ball and cant wait to try it again!!

Well it was some weekend - heat and great racing .Me , I'm back to normal - this morning after losing another sweaker by a mere .001 all I wanted to do was get out of Dodge -- so I put my tail between my legs and headed home . I'm fine now but in the heat of the moment its tough to take - take my word for it .
New England Dragway showed us this weekend that they can put on a great show and still have the Sportsman racers being happy .The track all race long was great - didn't hear of one traction issue from a racer as the track officials / NHRA D1 staff did their best to keep it biting .Did anyone notice the gal working the water box ? She is one dedicated employee who got it perfect everyday for every racer . Opps - almost forgot - congrats to Katie and James ............... Its been over twenty years since I was last at NED and I have renewed respect for New England racers who visit us at New Jersey and Pennsylvania tracks - yes , its a long ride - you guys and gals must really love to race ............. |

There was so much going on this weekend I forgot this little tidbit - Ken Robinson had a great weekend - after winning first round Saturday he found out he won the SuperWinch drawing . The prize ? What else but a great SuperWinch for his trailer - then Ken went on to go rounds today ..........Pictured below with him on the right is Bill Taylor .

Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
Congratulations to all the winners in Epping.
But, is there any way we can race when it's a tad cooler, like early to mid May, Sept. & the first part of Oct. I'm sure that this heat was very unusual & rare because half the country had the heat as well. But you have July 4th weekend @ Lebanon. 3 weeks later in July @ New England. 2 weeks later in August @ Atco. 2 weeks later in August @ Cecil County. That's 4 races in the very hot summer months. Why couldn't we have 2 points races in May, 1 race in July, 1 race in August & 2 races in Sept. ??? just my 3 cents. Pistol Pete 1374 I/SA |

Whether you race in April,May,June,July,August,Sept or Oct someone always gets to win.
There's probably a different ideal schedule for every S/SS racer in the division.Who's to say one is better than the other? I missed this race due to lack of funds.I would have been there, just like every other year I've raced Stock, since 1999,excluding 2004,again for lack of funds. I would have gladly put up with the heat, like I've put up with multiple rain episodes, cold, pollen attacks (remember Atco last year?).The way things are now,It looks like I'll be sideligned till 2012,especially after embarrassing myself at Englishtown, the only race I ran this year. |
Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
Get this - In winning yesterday Katie Sepaneks' lights averaged .016 thru seven rounds of tough competition ..........think about that next time you line up against her ............

Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
Gotta say that the track was EXCELLENT !
The track personell were friendly and the starting line crew really worked at keeping the hook there., and it was consistant.......150 deg track temp and I was hooked up every time!! I did'nt mind the lenght of the trip as much as the condition of the roads, I dont know what Mass and Conn. do with the fuel taxes, but they dont appear to spend it on the highways! |

All this track needs is a renovation like Norwalk's and I'm sure the cars & spectators will follow. As many trees that there are on the facilities, they could easily add a campground for those spectators & racers wishing to camp out. Hopefully they can get a Nat during the Fall timeframe. Just follow Bill Bader's fan friendly atmosphere plan and the owners will be all set.
