Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
I'm partial to Budds Creek / MIR myself, it's close to home.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Although Island is the track I have been to the most and is close to home it was never my favorite track.
I would have a hard time deciding between Maple Grove and E-Town Won races at E-Town.....makes it a special place. Was there when it was far different than today in the mid 60's....Raced there a lot.... Maple Grove is just a really nice place to be at racing...and the ride there is not bad.......Whenever I go there I'm happy....When I come down the hill and see the track I'm smiling..... I have to add I saw some great racing at Island and some of the biggest names in the sport there....and it is a shame how it has slid downhill....I have to twist my own arm just to go there anymore.... |

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
These days I like Norwalk for facility and proximity. I also liked Las Vegas since we have been there more than any other track excpt Norwalk.
I used to like Dragway 42 in Ohio, once upon a time in the 60s it hosted NHRA Nationals, and I remember Shirley Muldowney running off the end of very short shutdown, going across the entry road, and into the corn field where the drying stalks of corn finally slowed her to a stop. They also took off most of the paint on her car too..lol The shut off is short, uphill and poorly lit. So at night it was driving into a black hole.. But that was my home track then and my little green Ford Falcon, the Tin Lizzard in C/MP liked it. Yes, those were the days! David The New Hemi Guy |
