Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Randall, as always you are correct. I must be moor stoopid, as I am about to pay $1065 just to enter, add beer, and we are over $2500. That's no so bad.

Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Hummmm, touched a nerve did I......LOL. I guess the economy and fuel prices are not as bad as everyone says and your 401 K's that are now 201K's are hanging in there. Glad eveyone can justify and afford a week plus at Indy. Good luck to all. Did I metion it is the most important race of the year or did you miss that part and just zoned in on the "Dummy" Part !!!!!!! I know WHY everyone does it but not everyone is as well off as say Jeff and his fleet of DP's. Enjoy it while you can.

Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
OK somebody smarter than me start a poll. How many at Indy, put me down for under 128. Looks like the A/S ain't coming, and F/SA ain't doin so good either. I'm not sure if that $2500 including beverages is a good number. After consulting with my Social Director, I may have missed that number substantially. Of course you gotta consider my Social Director, but that's another issue.

Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
About three more weeks to enter, right? Still don't think S & SS will fill up? 102 SS cars right now.

We lived in a Pop Up camper that we got for $500 and a 25 year old 22 ft enclosed trailer the year we won. The car was a very good car that ran well for sure, but not one out of reach. I look forward to seeing everyone at the races and having a good time. I also know that whatever class we are entered in, we will do anything and everything to prepare our car to kick butt. If it doesn't work out, well, we are going down swinging! Then afterwards, we will find the racer that we raced and go have a beer together! I think it will fill up in stock or very close to it. It has seemed like many have waited to the deadline the last few years. I think that will be the case again. I also will stick my neck out and say that the bump will be .798 in stock. I believe the top 50 will be farther under than last year, but the last 28 qualiiers will be within .05 of last year. ( barring any weather anomolies) One thing I hope will be very exciting is the fact that some of the new hotdog cars will actually have to run each other. This is where ( finally the Bullsh**) stops. I mean, if you don't leg it out at Indy heads up, what else would you possibly be saving it for? And if you are in A/Stick or A/SA the Challenge is getting interesting! We have more stuff for the winners than any other class at Indy this year bar none! Keep your eyes on the sticky post on the challenge for updates as the Schwag keeps rolling in from the many that STILL support Heads up Class Racing! Thanks to All!!! Just my humble opinion! WFO!!! LOL. |

Wasn't there a recent Stock champion who pulled his car on an open trailer with a pickup?
Guess he didn't get the memo that he needed a motorhome, stacker, and $120K car to win in Stock? Also guess he forgot to sell his car and quit because someone else's combo is softer than his. |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
well Terry i guess my family is stupid also cause I've entered them in again this year as they have been going since 1964. But when you have won Indy like we did in 2005 there is nothing any better then having a Indy Wally for winning the whole event.
S/C Entry $305 S/G Entry $305 Winning PRICELESS !!!!!!!!! |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
X the so called dummies can spend their $$ where they want if they have it, DWA
|
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
If you have it you can do what you want. If you don't, might need to stay away.

Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Wow!, Joe
What happened? Is that your younger brother standing beside your sister in that winners circle picture? I guess that is you on the right...Right! |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
I thought about saving my money for the nursing home. But they tell me you get treated the same if you have the money to pay or not. And I've heard you can have more fun at Indy then lying in one of their beds all day waiting to (as my friend Joe Demarzo would say) take a dirt nap . Unless of course you can get Gurtrude to take out her teeth and join you. Me Terry I try not to let NHRA ruin my good times. I like to keep my glass half full. Good luck to all and I hope to see you there. If I make it I will be a Dummy with a smile.
|
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Well you guys take everything to serious. I was a "Dummy" (and still am) in 68, 69 (those were fun times) then again in 71, 72, 73, and later around 88 but as we get older 7 to 8 days at Indy dosent sound all that much fun anymore. Unless you havent done it before !I wish all good luck and I hope you guys with the new FI DP's and blown/unblown Ford cars have great weather conditions and can qualify around 1.50 or better under.
Gezzzzz, Lighten up but not before you cross the scales. Life is to short. |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Terry.....I race a POS super gas car and an overpriced Blown CJ.....for you that's a double negative.....lol.....but Indy is still the highlight of the season...for us....and I can't see that changing.....all the anti new car guys should be excited about it...because you know there will be several permanent hits.....again....
And one of these times I just might win..... I like to get together with everybody....from all over the country....the barbecues.....etc...and class is still fun to watch.....when Paul Adams beat Todd Patterson..last year....the crowd went nuts.... I don't care how many days long it is....lol Rock Haas |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
It's on my bucket list.....
maybe i'll make it someday even without the car ,cause you can't take a (butter ) knife to a gunfight..lol Good Luck to all. |

I ran Indy at the 50th anniversary race in super gas. Had the time of my life, it was a blast!! You are there long enough to get 2 national dragsters. To all those who have never, ya gotta do it once!

Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Last time I was there was to run C/SM about 1978. Think I may try it one last time.
Of course, I'm an idiot. |

I would love to run Brian Heads up......or Anthony B. for that matter....
looks like all 3 cars can go high 8.80's....Not sure is Brian entered? Would be great racing.....but unlikely this year....We don't know which class we will be in... Rock.... |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
One more thing......
Terry is very negative on this forum......but that is only because of his passion for the sport...you can't blame the guy for being passionate.....He loves Drag Racing Guys like him helped form the sport..... Sometimes we have to say something back though....lol Rock Haas |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Get the tread back on track....
127 Stockers entered as of this morning, going to come up short of the ~175 entered last year (I recall Kelly Thomas made the long tow only to fall sick when he arrived and didn't make a pass, ouch, that's gotta still hurt) but 173 made qualifying attempts last year and some VERY good cars didn't make the tough -.74 bump...I'll stick to my earlier prediction though, the DP and CJ cars are going to make for a tough bump again this year. Bowling Green is going to be very interesting this year as well but can't wait to see what people show at Indy. Going to be quite the show! |
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Larry was cleaning out some old paperwork in the trailer and ran across a qualifying sheet from Indy in 2004. Out of the 128 qualifiers, 94 of them are not entered this year (just 7 years ago). "Times they are a-changing".
|
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
168 Super Stockers entered with a week left until the entry deadline.
|
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
Is the deadline after Charlotte? I'm thinking maybe some are getting grade points then enter if the field is still short. Would'nt 1 grade point get in now or not? I'm just asking cause i am not familiar with their entry system yet , but we are planning on taking the superstocker to Charlotte this weekend.
|
Re: What's it going to take??? Indy?
It closes the Monday after Charlotte at 1:00 PM Pacific Time so somebody can still get a grade point this weekend and enter Indy provided they haven't hit the 180 quota since single grade point makes you eligible now. You'll have a couple of entries Monday but also some withdrawals as well as usual.
