Jack - you had to tell the world that I found a new way to lose. I dialed an 11.73 instead of a 10.73 and didn't realize it until after the burnout and it was too late at that point. After running 11.0s all day, I just took the last 2 numbers off and put the 73 on the window. So I don't know the difference between a 1 and a 0. Talk about peddling it. I did all I could to scrub off 1 second and let me tell you, it's not easy.

Jack the 55 Chevy has been running IHRA stock for a year or so....They went 13.22 best in P/SA last year. I would say they had something to do with NHRA dropping back from 1960 to 1955. (like IHRA)

Yes the right lane was extremely tight. I went from .020 left lane to .002 and -.005 in right lane. My MPH was faster to the 1/8th and 1/4 on both runs in the right lane but my ET was 2 hundredths quicker in the left lane. You tell me..

Also, there were about 10 consecutive right lane red lights in R2 of stock.

Funny thing . . . I found the opposite to be the case. . . . I though the left was tighter.... my RT's were about hundreth slower in the right lane. . . so who knows!

A lot of the SG racers found the same thing, the right lane was .02 quicker in Reaction time.
My R/T's are usually very consistant, and I was always .02 slower in the Left lane.
We video every run ,and frame by frame showed the car was hitting the tree at the same time in both lanes.
Since our cars typically go straight up before going foward, it had to be a difference in beam height .
I've always found the lanes to be really close at Atco ,so this was a little suprising.
I noticed a really high number of redlights and also really poor reaction times during the first round of S/SS elims.

The right lane was really tight, I did everything I know to slow the car down and still went -.011 red when I thought I was late (.050plus). Oh well that's racing.

Jack no comment, know what i mean.

I had a blast at the races, there were some great races & some heads up racing in stock and super stock. If anyone thinks this is just a bracket race bring your A game to D-1 and lets see what you have.

It was great (due to he weather) that D-1 decided to run the race all on saturday. THANK YOU!

They got it right - NHRA Division 1 Director Bob Lang and Atcos' Joe Sway put their heads together and came up with a plan late Friday to skip Saturdays' time trials and go right into eliminations and try to complete the event .As someone who stayed over Saturday night and witnessed the storm that came thru I can tell you that it rained and stormed up till around 9 AM or so Sunday and maybe we could have raced but I'm not so sure we could have finished .

Kudos to them for an early and good decision ..........

Jack - I agree - it was a smart call...... And if NHRA could keep tech & the lanes open into early evening on Friday's.... so that forced late-comers like myself could get there and at least get a time run in, I would be all for moving to a Saturday elimation format. But only if Friday could be extended to accomodate late arrivals.

I know Johnny D posted that to some of the people that are on his e-mail list that maybe next year they take a look at Qualifying on Friday & Eliminations on Saturday with Sunday being the rain date / travel day. I think their is some Pro's & Con's of this format, so what does everything think?

I think everything went very smooth and clean at Atco this weekend and Joe and his Staff along with the D-1 guys and Racers should be applauded for their effort. I know Car counts weren't what they normally are at Atco for a D-1 Race. I'm not sure of the total car count (Somewhere around 350 cars) but, they did bust their rear-ends and pumped out a clean race and were done by 6:30 Sat Night.

I agree with this as long as there is a set time for clean up runs and tech so the guys that can't get out of work on Friday have a shot at getting there and getting a run in. How do you guarantee everyone a time run? If you give the clean-up run saturday morning then I'm sure a lot of guys would sit Friday out and rather get the saturday morning run for the most recent and accurate dial-in for elims.

That Friday / Saturday deal is not a bad idea. In fact IHRA has been doing it at some division 9 races for 2 years.
I really don't care for it because they take away the saturday night bracket races, but for you Non-bracket racing types it works well.

Tech was open until 9:00 am Saturday morning. Those who teched in Saturday for Stock and Super Stock were placed at the bottom of the order.
