Pretty hot stuff and she was and still is a sexy babe. 100% real boobs and clean shaven wher it counted. My kind of woman.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Woody some years back shortly before he passed away. I was promoting musclecar shows at the time and he was hanging out with Skip Norman, who was selling old photos.

I had never heard of the man at the time but quickly realized what a jewel he was and was amazed at the things he'd seen and done. We invited him to dinner that first evening and it was one of those times when you look back and wish you'd had a tape recorder lying on the table.

No, not to blackmail some of the people in the stories but just to be able to remember even half of the stories he told Woody just kept going and going and before it was over I was sore from laughing.

He was a giant in the golden years of our sport. It's a real shame that no one ever took the opportunity to interview him at length for the history he lived.

I am glad to have been able to call him my friend. We spent almost every Thursday evening with a few friends from the local speed shop (Speed Unlimited near Andrews AFB in Md.) and just shot the "Bull" about racing until the resturant/bar closed.

That Volvo was and still is owned Ron Morehead (Dad to Ron and lincoln) car. That was a fast car for what it had and I saw it last year at the Dover Drag strip reunion. Great car from the Morehead family.

My buddy's mom had one of those back in the mid sixties. We used to slap the rear trunk lid and it would buckle in for a second and make a sound like a cheap garbage can being beat with a bat. It still makes me laugh now.

The funny thing about this car is we took it out of 40 years of storage added some new M/T slicks a Line lock updated the 30 weight engine oil to 5w20 new trans and rear end fluid (synthetic). Cleaned it up never touched the valve springs and ran 3 tenths faster the first hit out by the end of the day we were under the old record by 4 thenths my dad was cracking up. We have a video somewhere of that day I will find it and download it. This was at the 1st Dover Reunion at Island

To Steve Stasko, In 64 Chrysler did make 13 Ply with Race Hemis , and steel front ends, ! They also made the same amount and combo in the 64 Dodge ! These cars only came in the Belvedere, and Coronet 440 2 dr Hardtops ! So they were not paper only cars ! We had 2 of the original cars in my home town ! WILD steet cars, that also got raced every weekend !

You guys wanted some Linda so here is a classic when she was in her prime!

This photo of Dick Arons was taken at the Super Stock nationals in 1968 after his repeat win. Dick won the race in 67 in SS/EA and repeated in 68 with the famous yellow convertible in SS/F.

Check out that trophy.... Those were the days!

BTW does anyone know who Linda's sidekick is?

A 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone
289 'HiPo' 271 HP,,,,Engine Code 'A'
Classed in C/S in 1965.
And with the very rare optional functional fiberglass hood.
Only 90 of these cars were built.
Not a regular car to order,,,,,,you had to go through a 'DSO'
District Special Order.

My late friend and partner on a 383 71 Dodge Challenger Gene Collins raced one in 1965 sponsored by "Dave Pyles" Mercury at various tracks such as Aquasco, Capitol, 75&80 in Md.. It was maroon with the silver stripes on the roof like most Jr. stockers of the era had. He also ran a dark green 202 sedan with the 225 HP combo in "F" Factory stock. He was a NASCAR Winternationals winner with a 271 HP Mustang with an automatic in Daytona in 1966 named "Pegasus". He prefered an automatic trans car after loosing a couple of toes in a clutch explosion racing a 1962 Corvette prior to racing the Comets. One thing I remember was he had Stahl Headers and had candy stripes painted on the long collectors exiting under the doors. They had a sound all of their own.
