Alex, we'd be very interested to hear about that, feel free to email or send a PM, you know how to reach me.

Sorry Alex, but this just seemed so fitting:

May be a golden opportunity for IHRA IF they play their cards right and the sponsors give them a chance - and racers follow suit..

See ya at PRI?

Re: New NHRA Enhancement for Sponsors

OK Jeff and Alan,

Here is breif synopsis of how we were treated when we arrived at the Bowling Green LODRS event after a 8 hour tow.

Initial greeting and subsequent interaction between me and the "crotchety old rotten bastard driving a beat up old uglyass chebbie pick up truck".

(Note: In the interest of time and space "crotchety old rotten bastard driving a beat up old uglyass chebbie pick up truck" from this point on be known simply as CORB)

CORB: "Hey, what in the hell do ya'll think you are doin' there? You can't park there!
Me: "Why not?"
CORB: Because
Me: OK, I'll play along, because why?"
CORB: "That there is a emergency exit gate."
Me: "Where?"
CORB: "Right there."
Me: "Right where?"
CORB: "Ya'll got to move."
Me: "Where to?"
CORB: "I don't care, just anywhere but here. It's a emergency gate."
Me: "Well then why don't you have some signs posted like no parking or emergency gate?"
CORB: "Everyone knows it's a emergency gate."
Me: "Obviously not everyone. Where would you like me to park?"
CORB: "Many expletives while pointing to the way out of the track."
Me: :"Fine you crotchety old azzhole, can I get our money back?"
CORB: "Hell no!, now get them rigs outta here."
Me: " Oh yeah? Well %(&^$$*^&$*&$&#&%#^&((**)(*^)PT) you crotchety old bastard."
CORB: "Smiles and says go park up there on that hill" as he drove off in a cloud of blue burning oil smoke.
Me: "Nice to meet you too."

We moved to the designated hill and about 1 hour later Ron Terrell and friends pulled into the spot we vacated. Right next to the unmarked "emergency gate". They remained there for the duration of the event.

And to think some are actually suggesting that I consider holding the next USCN there LOL

David Glidewell did it all year, and he and NitroPlate did it Sunday when they paid $2K to win for a 26 car field at a $50 entry fee.

Racers, come race with us in Jackson TN and Bowling Green KY for the combo races in 2012. I guarantee you'll be treated like a treasured customer, and you'll be paid the full purse for your finishing position. Bowling Green even has a points fund, and they do pay the points winner as promised.

Fans, you need to come see these races. You will see a show, and it will be worth your time and money if you are a class racing fan.

Jackson also has an Announcer that knows about () that much about class racing. Shakes everybodys hand that comes to the tower. Thanks them for being there, asks them to come back and bring a friend next time. Can figure out 2 rounds of a 26 car qualifying ladder using long math. He loves doing it and if he didn't have bills to pay, would call the class cars for free!

If he closes his eyes long enough he can still hear a small block stick car!

NHRA management and board members are going to ride this roller coaster all the way to the bottom and then walk away with their pockets full. All they are interested in is financial gain for themselves. Until racers, both pro and sportsman, and sponsors step up and say enough is enough that is not going to change. National events is where most of their revenue comes from. Quit going and quit sponsoring the National events and things will change.

I have said this before Drag Racing is an addition for which there is no cure or rehab

It costs you everything you have and you can not stop

Re: New NHRA Enhancement for Sponsors

Heaven help us all. Many have stuck by NHRA for so many years. I guess the feeling is that it will get better. Seeing all of the post on hear about racing with a different organization, starting a new organization, racing combos, anything but NHRA is really a fasination to me. I have mentioned and recommended other drag racing venues, only to be blasted over the years and basicly told that I was wrong to go on this site and even mention anything outside of class racing with NHRA. Please forgive me, but how many of you remember being financially able to attend and compete at a national event with NHRA. No grade points, no set "index" to run in order to compete and going to all of the Manufacturers, filling out a form, putting the decals on the car and "getting paid" more for all of the decals than the actual purse. Look back at some of the old stock, superstock and modified (RIP) cars and how many decals were on those cars.

Summit, Jegs and all the others, there are alot of nice tracks that would love to see you coming knocking on their door with your funding to put on a race. Set up an event that racers and crewmembers can afford to compete at, do some print and airways advertising and watch the racers and the spectators show up. Okay here I go again, tracks like Z-Max Dragway, Bristol Motorsports Park, etc. don't care if races like Pinks All Out come back and bring over 500 racers and 20,000 spectators for a two day event.

Re: New NHRA Enhancement for Sponsors

I want to be a contingency sponsor.
1st I have to put up a bunch of money to cover all the classes in Stock and Super Stock.
No one shows up in J/S, M/S, O/S, P/S, O/SA, T/SA, U/SA, V/SA.
I still have to pay for those no shows, does this make any kind of sense. And guess where the no show money goes? You got it, NHRA.
Sponsors want less classes because of this situation, not because of bye runs. With a bye run the racer at least gets a little money. With a no show, the greedy guys get the money.

I am surprised that a sponsor would even want to participate.

But don't worry sports fans, soon all the sportsman, except TAFC & TAD, will be relegated to their own separate events, such as the Jeg's Sportsnationals. You thought that the payouts were low before.

NHRA was founded for the racers to race. It seems that if you are not a Pro then you are not a racer. Times have really changed. Whenever I go to the Gators I wonder if I am going to be able to park inside the track instead of out the gate.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA sponsor this NHRA

Hopefully it won't be inside the track.....at Orlando!

Speak for yourself. I can and will stop when it ceases to be fun.

They're probably hitting the tracks up for more money as well. No matter how they spin Dallas' contribution to the "Company" they will be hard pressed to justify his $400,000.00 salary now. It will be very interesting to see if they make it through the season next year. Las Vegas may be willing to lay odds on that bet.

What Greg said! I was out of it for three years without any withdrawal symptoms and many others have done it as well. Sure you miss your friends but racing should never be a cause for someone to jeopardize his family's financial security.

I do speak for myself - it appears to be the same for many others - I am glad to hear you are NOT addicted as many are

The fun will never stop for me - I hope it does not end for you

I hope NHRA survives

The only other option ( IHRA ) is for those in the central and eastern part of the US - nothing in Califfornia, Neveda, Oregon, Washington, Arizona ( one in Tucson )

:-) peace

No - do that by buying a house or investing in some solid mutual funds

I personally do not risk my families financial security because there is no such thing

:-) peace

This is going to be good - LMAO

This gets better and better, not ! This will cause even more contingency sponsors to say- "Thanks, but no thanks."

So, with even less cars showing up, they should look better anyway, devoid of all cont. decals.

After the pain of NHRA's latest sting wears off, I would imagine some sponsors will take their advertising money over to other racing organizations.

Alan, I doubt it.
