Re: Where are these cars now?
I can elaborate a bit re the front exit headers of Dick Henrys.
I built Wally's Camaro shortly after Dick had his car out. (As Tom said, one of the first GT cars built) I built the headers (rear exit) for Wally after stories around were that you couldn't build conventional rear exit headers. ( I'm pretty stubborn at times) . After Wally's car was out, I built a set for Dick as NHRA took a dim view of the front exit headers. FJ Now, if I can just post a pic of my original Camaro, where is it now??? |

I checked it out at Maple Grove in the late 90's. From what I heard, some good ol' boys in eastern PA. owned it, and as far as I know, it's still there. Sounds like Reporter Jack's territory I'm interested in the exact history from Parker Bros., on. |

I am pretty sure Len Schneider still has his thunderbird. I saw him with it as little 5 years ago.

Re: Where are these cars now?
Len Schnieder still has the T-BIRD, was at his house a few weeks ago,he has ran the T-BIRD at sacramento and Infineon this year until he split a cylinder wall, planing on fixing it and running more next year. T-BIRD looks the same other than he up dated it with a full cage..

Re: Where are these cars now?
Tom;
Yes, thats my old 67 Camaro. Sold it, I think to someone in new York. It then turned up in the Detroit area and was run a bit by Hush (Bert) Dawson. Then the last I heard of it was it the Texas area. Who knows now?? FJ |

It's funny how old race cars have a habit of showing up anywhere in the country sometimes thousands of miles away from the original owner. |

Wally had this built at FJ Smiths. Sold it to Walt Kriel (from NJ?) Joe bought it a few years ago after his GT truck burnt in a garage fire. |

Thanks for the picture! What a fantastic thread, a real trip down memory lane. Alex sent a telephone number for John Nemeth and I will have to touch base with him. I had no idea where the car was, or if it was still alive. That car provided a lot of thrills back in 76 and 77. I believe it was the first SS/J car to run in the 10's. Winning class at the Winter Nationals was a "Big Deal" back then, since only the class winners got the chance to compete in the eliminator. Thanks, Happy New Year and say hello to your dad. |
Re: Where are these cars now?
Todd, they changed hoods and ran it as a small block car in SS/HA. It's a original titled Big Block stick car

Tommy,
I thought you and Harry might like to see a picture of two old timers going at it 30+ years ago. I think it might be at Columbus or maybe Indy. Bert Dawson Comp-S/S 3185 |

Re: Where are these cars now?
Maybe Bob Michael and/or Don Kennedy knows the answer for sure....
Is this the same car? Where is it now? http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...obssjaindy.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...sia5707tvd.jpg |
Re: Where are these cars now?
Brent : that Lemans wagon belonged to Mike Delahanty or Russ Abrams or both ,the picture was taken at Milan . Tom : Don Kennedy's bird is in the Chicago area, is raced by a guy that takes it to different assoc races and Pontiac races . It now has large displacement (Pontiac ) No2 type motors in in . It does big Wheelie's and is now white in color, but still in SS trim with just a hood change. I tried to buy it years ago and return it to the SS ranks , but he likes it too much. ( can't blame him )

Re: Where are these cars now?
There was a blue 69 camaro for sale about 6 years ago called "the skys the limit", was told it was an ex Bobby Warren car ,anyone know what happened to it ,might have been in Kentucky but not sure .
|
Re: Where are these cars now?
About the 72 Firebird, I had not heard where it got to after Don Kennedy sold it. It is a rare car, originally a 455 HO that only about 200 were made. Bob Michael.

Re: Where are these cars now?
Does anyone remember a 67 Camaro that was silver and black with orange yellow and red stripes and it had "misscarriage" on the side? I know not the best name for a car but thats what it was.... My dad bought this car in the early 90's and we had heard it was an old superstock car, though it had been ran in brackets for a few years... It still has the same paint job as the old days now..

Re: Where are these cars now?
A little over a week ago, long-time Super Stock and Comp racer Larry Tores lost his wife, Janis, to cancer. Went to Carson City for the funeral and spent a lot of time talking with his former racing partner Gary Bosz. While talking about old cars, Gary mentioned that his old '56 Chevy was still running in Division 3.
This car: Gary Bosz SS/PA is the same car that Myron Ramey is still running 38 years later. |
