Rock waves at the Fans while he's on the stop ! I've seen Him do that !
100 more Cubes ? You mean I need a 555 instead of a 455 ? no wonder I'm so slow. I get it now.

Chuck, 100 plus 600 equals 700. Not 555. Lol. You know your only 1 or 2 mph off of my proposal. Lol

Has any of the faster cars tried to surprise a 30+mph slower car by just leaving the stop off and putting a bumper on the opponent and just following them down?

Yep I did it first round at Bradenton last year,,,out of air no stop...Giant wheelie,I was the picture on DRC, not an honor at the time with the wheels way up. I let off it shifted to high and ran on his quarter then pulled up slowly to the mph cone then dumped. It worked he ran out I was lucky.
And as for you and your long wavie hair Rock...I'm jealous but I still wave back to you.

Rock, don't let him fool you. He has been running 160 to 165. Lol. I think this engine is smaller than what he has ran in the past. This one though, could be making more power. He may have snuck up to your house and borrowed one of yours. Lol

Re: Super Gas speeds

Ran it in Reynolds and was very consistant @ 165, was on the stop for 4.2- I don't care for that much time though. Gonna re-look at my TSrpm numbers before Orlando.

Lower that stop speed a little....

Re: Super Gas speeds

We got a Div. 4 racer that activates his T-stop on the top end, he runs 9.90's at 106-110. He has done well doing this. He is the only one I have seen do it. His car off the stop runs low 8's at 160+. His stop comes on after 1/8th mile.

You guys ever see anyone else doing that?

Rock hope all is well with the family.

Re: Super Gas speeds

We do it here in D-1

Struggled a bit in the beginning to make it run consistent but, the past few years we have been able to run it right on 9.90's. We usually are right around 9.90 @ 118mph. Car will run 9.00's wide open. We do get the random head shaker and the car will spit out a 9.80 with the same numbers from the previous run.

There used to be a super gas racer in Div 2 that used to do that and there is a super comp racer that still does it down here. Neither one had much success. The problem I see with it is in order to do that, they will have to set their car up to be safe on every run because they will never be able to judge a car that may be 50 to 60 mph faster at the stripe. The better racers will know that and hold a tenth or more, so they can catch them way before the finish line and set up on them. Div 4 racers usually set up fairly honest so most of the fast cars out there probably wouldn't try that approach if they were racing a guy with a top end stop. Just my 2 cents
Chuck

BKSG1198 01-16-2012 10:00 AM

Re: Super Gas speeds

We ran into that problem a few years back where we had to be completely honest on the set-up. We recently changed the way we do things and actually have it come back on at the top end and have had a lot of success this year. Finished 11th in D-1 S/G in 2010, went to a few 3rd or 4th round finishes in 2011 and a final round at Numidia, so I guess it's all about how well you set the car up. Cars with big hoodscoops in the left hand lane hate racing us cause you don't see the car till about 1100 feet. Some racers who know what you do can set up slow but, it's all about hitting the tree and going 9.90....correct?

CBS 01-16-2012 04:49 PM

Re: Super Gas speeds

Couple things.....

My family is doing better...thanks.....

Honest dialers in Division 4....I don't think so....(maybe 1 or 2 guys I don't know)

As far as the top end stop goes....the concept is ok I guess but its just not fun....Its a horrible feeling going slow down there

and fairly difficult to dial....

I have seen several guys try it but I don't believe we have seen a winner....so until that happens....

Re: Super Gas speeds

here is a curve ball to throw at everyone. if you have the data to support it tho. if you have two time shots, run one with the stop coming on at the first, then the next one with the stop coming on at the top end. this will throw everyone for a loop when they are looking at the Q sheets. but you will really have to have data to play this game.

PA... if you wouldn't have people doing your hair after every run then you would have more time. How does Kyle do it hair, weather and tire pressure?

I may not win a lot of rounds but there is nothing better than running 9.90 at 170+ ,,,, when the car is dialed ,,, its like the eagle swooping down on the chicken that is attempting to get in the hen house ,,,,, and the speed ,,,, for an old man like me there is nothing like it to get the heart pumping :)

CBS Jr.... I'm in Vegas for my birthday ,,, went over to shop this morning ,,, Please call me.

You can tell I needed a break from the Casino ,,, I'm in the room reading class racer am I sick or am I sic ,,,,, :)

Re: Super Gas speeds

I agree (it would harder to be consistent) then on the other spectrum have seen Donnie Pedan down here at the Nationals run 9.90 at 191 mph!!!! Try to follow most of you through ND or DRC, what is the highest mph you have seen in SG?

We watched Donnie do this on Saturday one time he would run the number, the next time when he came off the tstop he blew the tires off.

For you guys running high mph track prep at mid track has to be excellent. How many of you have come off the stop and not hookup?

Re: Super Gas speeds

Rock is my hero but he always goes like 150s. I dont know why you all think he can go 170 something? Tommy D can do that.
I think i saw where Mike Manners went 990s at 205 in norwalk one time. Probably not a good combination though.

Fuzz - More mph is more fun, but hard to do in my 2500 lb tank. I may need to go to super street myself.

Wow!! Have seen manners go 8.90 at 223 in SC, that was rush to watch can only imagine being in the cockpit.

Yes Rock has a fan club nationwide he just does not know it...:D

Maybe Kyle has some extra free time for Rocky due to Kyle's lack of maintenance of his own dome.....now that's just a wild a ss guess on my part?

I have to say that Rock's hair is in a league of its own. and a zip code of its own.
I am follically challenged!
Tommy D , i may join you in Super street. I bought an old TS berretta to try to keep up with Rock for high MPH now that you guys told me he can go fast. I never knew. He is very slippery.

Fuzz - Iceman cracks me up.
