I don't post alot just so there is no misunderstanding.

Just so everone will know how it works. There are 523 parking spots a Gainesville. The quotos are set from the previous years history and entries and not a crystal ball.
Last year, there was no class at Gainesville and this year there is so historically there are more cars show up when there is class. Class was added because of request from racers and done after the quotos were set. So they were immediately made aware of the issue and told me they would shift some entries around to try to accommodate every class which they now are doing. There will still be 523 parking spots and I was told they will try to fill every one of them.

Thanks

I'm not a racer, just a fan that takes a lot pictures of you guys. Thanks to Mike Crutchfield for the information and to all of you racers who helped NHRA open it up to 80. I had thought about going before, but the car count had made me decide not to, now I believe I will be there Thursday and Friday. Hope to reaquaint myself to guys from last year.

Done a little research and some of the drivers haven"t been to enough points races to get in yet. How did they get in?

I can tell you in my case, it was due to my average and not my last years actual credits.

Probably doesn't have enough grade points. I'll be surprised if it fills up. Only 5 more entrys since they have increased the quota

I have 3 grade points. I know that if it doesn't fill up by 8 am (pacific time) tomorrow.
I should be eligible to enter.
But when I log into NHRA's entry site Gainesville is not on there. Why is this? Pomona is full and it still has a box to open up?
Anyone else with a 3 or less have this problem?

I called NHRA Art and was told by Jennifer Gregg that that it will not open up to grade three . Since it closed at 4 it will take a 4 to get in even if it doesn't fill up or if somebody drops out.

Gaffney don't think I didn't notice that SS/G.. when do I get to drive it? Still the best appearing car in super stock and that's coming from a ford guy.

What...WHAT... WHAT???????

Is this organization run by complete and total MORONS?????

What logic could POSSIBLY explain that statement???? How does that possibly aid ANY of their MEMBERS.... THAT'S US BTW... YOU KNOW... THE ONES THAT PAY THEIR F'N SALARIES AND FOR WHOM THE ORGANIZATION IS SUPPOSED TO EXIST!!!

Tell me PLEASE, WHO or WHAT would be harmed by allowing the NORMAL GRADE PROGRESSION until the field FILLS UP.

WHY, oh WHY do we keep SENDING THESE IDIOTS OUR MONEY???????

That's always been the way it works...if nothing else it encourages participation in Divisionals and NO's to get grade points. Jennifer Gregg and all the staff who assist us with entries, grade points, etc do a great job and work by the rules given them. There are numerous threads about this very topic, undoubtedly NHRA didn't set the quotas correctly by relying on prior year participation only but at this point it is what it is....they aren't going to undermine the grade point system.

An just HOW does allowing a normal grade progression after admitting their stupidity "undermine the grade point system".?????? They increased the quota from a ridiculously low 50 to 80, still low for a class elimination race. Did they really think that there were 30 guys out there with 4+ grade points just clamoring to get into the Gators? Increase the quota by 62% and not allow the guys with 3 points, or two point into the event? Just what are those guys being punished for? Exactly how does that encourage participation in the divisionals? This is abject stupidity, plain and simple. I defies all logic if the NHRA has ANY respect or interest in supporting their members who choose to run Super Stock and want to participate in one of the very few events that offer class run-offs.

I think it was a false gesture, they knew there wouldn't be that many grade 4's. Now they can a) say "we upped the quota and no one showed" and b) they don't have to redo the parking plan.

Re: Petitioning NHRA to Open SS @ Gainsville

It is very hard to get excited about running NHRA when they have rules like this. I dont understand why they care who comes to the event as long as the quota has not been met. I am fine with the quota's and I am even fine with the step down of grade points. I think that makes a lot of sense. However to keep the grade point at 4 after raising a quota that was wrong in the first place. Makes no sense to me. Some of you guys say you need to support NHRA more. I went to 3 NHRA Divisionals and 3 NHRA National Events last year. I also went to 8 IHRA Pro-ams (in 2 classes) and the Sportsmans Spectacular in Virginia. I used every single day of vacation I had for racing. Sorry guys thats the best I can do.

That is not the way it has worked in the past. I know that first hand.
They posted that was the way it was going to work then changed it as soon as they realized it was going to cost them money.
I hate to seem like a cry baby on this one but I got screwed a couple of years ago at Indy when they posted those rules and didn't go by them. And now I feel I'm getting screwed by them enforcing them.
Litterally damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Right now I'm sitting in Nassau Bahamas. So I won't be calling them till Friday, by then Maybe I will cool down a bit.

Kenvin Gaffeny's SS/GA camaro was entered before the quota was full, he had no reason to petition NHRA for his own personal gain. He was only speaking out for his love of super stock and the sportsman racers. For us guys that have been in the class for some time now, he and his brother Sean have the passion that all of us had years ago. Kevin, we all disagree on matters that pertain to this sport just like brothers will do, but at the end of the day we are one big family. See ya at G-TOWN..............FYI two got tangled up in testing today and it was bad!!!!

I was informed by Rich Schaefer today that there was a flaw in the system that did not allow for the entries to go past grade 4 when the addition to 80 was made. Because it was an addition instead of a full field situation it will be corrected and grade 3 will be able to enter maybe as early as today and will continue to go down the grades as normal until the quota is met.
