Snorkasaurus, has to be the best name of all. Hard to believe the car is restored to white, but it sure is nice. If it was restored today it would be a different story.
One day the snorkasaurus will breath fire again....

Hey Duster, do you have anymore info on this '64 Hemi Dodge 330 called 'Snorkasaurus'...is it waiting to be restored or is it restored already.

Charlie, I'll let Class Racer member Steve tell the story about the ex-Mancini '64 Hemi Dodge and some of the damage it made to the car when that explosion happened...

Both cars,, Malcom Durham's and Dick Harrell's are '64 Malibu hardtops,, not the Super Sport, which had completely different trim. My first car was a '64 Malibu hardtop, a measly 6 cylinder, 3 speed slug,,, thanks Dad. If I'd known then what I know now,,, oh well, you know how that goes,, I was only 16 and had no idea about how to build something like those 2 above.

Snorkasaurus appears in Jim Schild's Maximum Performance book. It is restored to factory stock, white with red interior, looks brand new. Not sure where the car is today.
It would be great to see it painted red again..

I think the car is in the Todd Werner Collection in Fla.My friend tried to bay the car at Barrett-Jackson a few years ago. I think that is were Todd got it.

I really dig the rear wheel opening and rear axle centerline on this one.

Hey Danny, did you ever get the urge to build up another Malibu just like you used to have...what color was yours.

Anyway here's another old photo of a '64 with a 283 4 speed...

I had a 64 Plymouth that look similar. The Mopar Performance spring perches have 3 holes in them. I just drilled another hole in the shock plate and moved the housing forward 1 to 1-1/2" for a little extra weight transfer (plus my driveshaft was about an inch too short, but that's another story...) Using a later K-frame in these cars sets the motor back about 1-3/4" which we also did. Took NHRA a while to catch on to that one ;)

No,, never did anything with the '64,, I was a junior in HS, but after graduating and going into the working world,, I did pick up a Marina Blue '67 Malibu hardtop, another 6 cylinder, 3 speed car, but I spent my hard earned cash and time on it, eventually running an 11 to 1 327, with a 30/30 Duntov cam, 462 heads, a Torker intake, and a 4 speed,,, much better. My 'ol man told me if I bought that engine, I might as welll move out , but I called his bluff, put it all together and he enjoyed it as much as I did, when I would hand him the keys!
Fun times,, that car taught me a lot,, especially how to change clutches!

There were several race teams that used the '64 thru '66 Plymouth Barracuda's as their drag cars...

I'm thinking "Mongoose" spent a little time behind the wheel of this Hemi Cuda.

The picture of the front fender with "Hands off Aluminum" reminds me of Johnny Perkins from Jesup, GA with a 65 that had "Bend it Buy it" on it....

That is one, cool ride. Those old boats could fly.
And with that 413, you could always do some stump pulling after one of our hurricaines down here!

Nice, different, stylish!

I think Rob Ayres told me it was either Carlisle or Stuttgart, AR. His dad used to manage one of those tracks. He drove the AWB Plymouth when the previous owner had it. I was told it was an evil handling car. I never drove it after buying it. I shipped it to Garlits for 15 years, now at Bushmaster's for a while. I think I've posted all the old photos that I got from Joe Ralph Thompson. Occassionally another photo pops up here and there.
