Can you set records and not qualify at opens? Garbarine is not on the SuperStock list.

Hey Mr. Live Reporter/Shirt Guy - Congrats on being on top of the heap in stock so far!

Apparently so. And since it was done on test-n-tune day maybe it doesn't count for the AHFS either.

Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA National Open

i know in D1 & D3, there is no "real" qualifiying sheets becauce of being a national open, they do post sheet to let people know what everybody ran, cause in rd 1 its random pairing, now saying that, i do know D5, 6 & 7 qualifiy at opens and use the ladder in round one, once again, different deals in different divisions

Toby, the only runs counting is anything -1.20 or faster for a car setting the record, its a fun deal to keep up on even when a certain person is trying to keep stats right.

Mr. Garbarine set his record on Thursday which is not a qualifing day at this National Open .Thursdays are test n tune days but the NHRA has allowed National Records to be set as long as proper Certification Team members are present .

I thought is was 1.20 under or quicker regardless if they're setting a record or not.

i Don't know, it reads"Runs included in the AHFS database are limited to final qualifying runs (Q data) and all elimination runs (E data) at all NHRA National and LODRS events. (At events where class eliminations are run, all runs are included in the AHFS database. Only the first round of class is part of qualifying and therefore is part of the "Q" database.) The "Q" data and "E" data files are the official data gathered by the NHRA timing system and processed through the NHRA Information Technology department. NHRA "Q" data and "E" data are the only data files used for the AHFS."

it say's nothing about open's

Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA National Open

Divisional "Open Races" are not National events or LODRS events. Therefore, only runs of 1.20 or more under the index count toward the AHFS stats or HP increases. The divisional open series races are the only races left where a competitor can run "fast", within reason.

I simply do not understand certain racers who go to National and LODRS events and continually run fast for no reason. They only hurt themselves and other people who run the same engine combo. All certain racers need to do is go to an "open series" event and let it all hang out and it hurts no one..unless they go more than 1.20 under.

Jack has had some issues getting online, so he says. Anyway its overcast and we are getting a late start. They well be calling stock to the lanes shortly. The sun is supposed to come out this afternoon. More later...

Because there are still many Stock/Super Stock racers that work hard and strive to set records. Kudos to them and their hard earned results. Just means others will need to harder as they should in any performance class; and judging by those runs the potential is there for others to run just as fast.

Finally --- I'm baaaaaaackkk ! ! Stock just completed their last time shot .Conditions are a little worse than yesterday - maybe a few hundreths .Cloudy and overcast right now but patiently waiting for the Sun to peek out .

First round I estimate to be around 1:30 -- barring another pollen out or what-ever .

I'll be back with a few pics ..........

They just called stock to the lanes. Below is the qualifying sheet for stock. If I get the Super Stock sheet I will post it.

Jack is having trouble getting online, hopefully he will be on later.

2 years ago at this race the pollen was just as bad or worse.
I had the stuff in my car.....trailer....camper......and found it pretty tough to clean up.....

At that race we were down for a few hours at least due to the pollen attack....

How's this for getting your second wind - now that I'm a little rested I'll get back to what Ken pays me the big bucks to do ( in my dreams ) - what a day - for me it started at 5am and as I get a bit older this isn't getting any easier .Today was full of ups and downs - so many that I'll just say today was terrific ! ! !

All that said lets give out some 'attaboys - first to Dave Mitchell in his rental Stock racer - Don Wilgus' ride that he was kind enough to let Dave drive today . And picked up a Wally for his efforts .And lets not forget Bob Medeiros -- runner up in Stock who fought hard all day only to go red in the final .

SuperStock was a bit short on cars but no cakewalk and in the final it was Angello DiTocco Iin his multi-colored '98 Firebird SS/HA over Russ Linke in his ageless '73 Corvette SS/JA who was "on the tree" all day only to run out in the final while Angello was one over .Well done boys ..........

I've got a ton of photos from the weekend -- as I sort thru they'll get posted .
